I started watching Hemlock Grove as well! I was a little unsure of it at first but after the first three episode's it really started to grow on me. It seems like you've been quite the busy Ranger though! I imagined though that this time of the year would be a bit hectic for you since you're probably getting ready for the busy season.

Wow, it's been a while since I checked in! Sorry I haven't been reading and commenting, but things have been busy here. I should be around a bit more now that our annual birdwatching festival is over and our next crew member on board starts on Sunday.
Games: The only games I've played in the last ten days are Red Johnson's Chronicles, My Aquarium, and lots of Bejeweled 3. I finally unlocked all the fish for My Aquarium, so now I can get down to playing around with the various tanks and coming up with pretty combinations of fish. And decorating and re-decorating the tanks. Red Johnson's Chronicles is a slog, I want to see where the story goes, but the puzzles aren't much fun. Glad it was cheap, otherwise I'd have been really annoyed. As for Bejeweled 3, my favorite mode is Diamond Mine. Any guesses why?
Reading: Still picking away at Whatever You Do Don't Run. I also ordered George Takei's book Oh Myyy! off Amazon last week. Haven't had a chance to really dive in yet, but it should be interesting. I've also been poring through various field guides for work purposes. Oh, and reading an essay here and an essay there out of An Evening Among Headhunters and Other Reports from Roads Less Taken by Lawrence Millman, my absolute favorite travel writer in the world. What I love about his books is that, because they're all made up of essays, you can just read whatever catches your eye and don't have to read the whole book in order.
Watching: Still watching NYPD Blue. I recently watched a Netflix exclusive series called Hemlock Grove. I'm not sure I'd recommend it to anyone. Take that as you will. Finally got to watch Skyfall. Daniel Craig may be my all time favorite Bond, he's the most like the Bond of the books, which was my first exposure to James Bond, not the movies. I also watched The Avengers again. You know you're tired when you fall asleep during that movie! Jason and I are finally caught up on The Amazing Race. We have a pact where we only watch it together. Amazon loves us, lol. My prediction for the season finale: the hockey brothers and Max & Katie are definitely final 3, the other team will depend on how much help the hockey brothers give the dumb blondes. The only reason they've made it this far was with a lot of help from the boys.
Ranger stuff: The festival is over, we're all exhausted, but it was a huge success. This is the third year we've done it, and it gets bigger and bigger every year. The live bird presentations by Wind Over Wings were once again the most popular programs. I didn't get to see the one at Bradbury Mountain State Park on Saturday, I was in charge of my park and the Osprey Watch that day, but the one on Sunday was wonderful, as always. Unfortunately, my pictures didn't come out that well this year. Hope brought four owls: two northern saw whets, an eastern screech, and a great-horned, as well as bringing Zachariah the raven. All the birds that she has at Wind Over Wings are unreleasable due to injury or imprinting on humans. The great-horned owl imprinted on a human and has no clue she's an owl. This is pretty sad, as there is nothing physically wrong with her. She was blown out of the nest, and if the well-intentioned woman who found her had contacted either fish and wildlife services or a rehabilitator instead of taking her home and feeding her bread, she could have been returned to her nest and learned how to be an owl. Moral of the story: birds can be returned to their nests and their mamas will welcome them back with open wings. If there's something wrong, contact an expert, it increases their odds of surviving and being returned to the wild.
Listening: Went to a concert on Saturday, it was a fundraiser for the fuel assistance program for the next town over. They've had some really good groups, but this was the one that I really, really wanted to go to. My friend Kat's group Meteora was playing. They do amazing three part harmony singing, and Kat writes some great songs. The song that really blows everyone away I can't find a video of, but this one is good, too:
While I was looking for Meteora videos, I came across this one. This was the last song of the Saturday Concert at the Getaway last year. It's a poem by Tennyson that I really love, as my friend John Roberts sang it at a gathering shortly after my dad died. This time around, we were singing it for the family of a young woman (19 years old) who were supposed to be with us that weekend, but the daughter had passed away two weeks earlier. I'm in that mass of people on stage, but hiding in the back. We actually sound not too bad, considering that there was no prior rehearsal involved.
Now that Feathers Over Freeport is over, I'm hoping to have some time to game!
