Your description of DQXI reminds me so much of Yakuza ... weird.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is definitely one of my most wanted games, but I have such a backlog I may get it on sale. Same with Detroit.

I will admit it, I am a Dragon Quest addict. I've had DQ XI for two weeks and I've already sunk over 100 hours into it. I work, I eat, I walk the dog, and sometimes I sleep, but mostly I play DQ XI.
DQ XI is kind of like if DQ VIII and DQ IX had a beautiful love child together. It has bad puns, Cockney rhyming slang, monsters, mermaids, a town where everyone speaks in haiku, crafting, quests, a horse racing mini game to go along with the casino mini games, and fantastic localization. So yeah, I'm happy. I'm not going to go into any details, because I'm sure I'd end up dropping spoilers, but I think XI may have edged out VIII as my favorite DQ game. It is missing the monster arena, which I did kinda like though.
I left off Arkham City to play DQ XI, and I probably won't get back to it for a bit, because Shadow of the Tomb Raider is sitting at the top of the pile of to be played games next to my TV. And winter is coming, if the falling temps here in Maine are any indication. And winter and gaming go together like chocolate and peanut butter, as far as I'm concerned.
Other non-gaming stuff I've been doing is getting done at the park for another season. I'll go back to work at the market this weekend. I'm taking a week off in October to go to the FSGW Getaway in Maryland again, and I'm really looking forward to that. Also continuing on with the Freeport Conservation Trust Trail Challenge. Beau and I have only one more stamp to go and we'll be done. I can walk to the last trail from my house, so maybe tomorrow, if it doesn't rain. And Wednesday, I'm driving to New Hampshire to do a nature program for my niece's preschool class (my niece is the teacher, not one of the students) on how plants and animals get ready for winter. So it's going to be a busy week, even if I'm not working.
And now, back to roaming Erdrea looking for metal slimes to slay.
Not that weird. Both depend on story telling, but also have all the little extras that make for a good RPG or action game. I think that was why I also liked Sleeping Dogs so well.
To be honest, I had actually forgotten all about the release date for DQ XI and preordered Shadow of the Tomb Raider first. But then Snee reminded me. And that, as they say, was that.
Arrgh! DQXI sounds so great!
Honestly, your life in Maine sounds so dreamy to me. I was just talking to a friend of mine who lives there. He was talking about cheap houses you can get way up in Washburn. That's way up north there. Don't know what I'd do up there for work, but it sounds nice.
DQ XI just edged out VIII as my favorite DQ game. I didn't think that was possible, but here it is.
Oh, I tend to mostly post the good stuff and leave out the clogged toilets, frozen pipes, asshole tourists, and viscious ice storms. And there really isn't any work way up in places like Washburn, which is why property is so cheap.
Time to go back to the market to work again huh? Actually, I'm quite excited for fall and winter and the holidaze. I'm sick of the heat. It's still in the 100s here. Goddammit.
I watched the Patriots the other night, and was thinking of you. Regretfully, I was not rooting for them.
The thing at the school sounds fun. I remember stuff like that from when I was a kid.
Yep, back to the market. It was nice and cool Monday night - got almost down into the 30s. I had to shut my window. Then it warmed up and got humid again. Almost 80 today and 90% humidity. Blech.
Haven't seen either of the first two Pats games, and I'm kinda happy about that. Losing to the Lions is just sad. And I wouldn't expect you to root for the Pats. You're not from New England.
Oh my god. It was like a cross between herding cats and popping a pan of popcorn on the stove without a lid on it today. Good thing they're so damn cute.
