Quick Thoughts: Bomb Chicken

I started Bomb Chicken on the Switch after I finished The Messenger. Here are some random thoughts that I have at the moment.

Firstly, I can't remember the last game that has left almost no impression on me. I picked up my Switch a handful of times and couldn't for the life of me remember what I was playing.

The game seems to be relatively short because I think that I am about halfway through the levels.

I was expecting a jump button for some reason, but no this game is just a chicken that you move left and right with all the face buttons planting a bomb.

The gameplay loop has been fun so far, but I think that I am done. I just do not have a desire to see it through the end eventhough it shouldn't take me too much longer.

I have nothing to add except that going from jump button to no jump button is always jarring. Going from Spider-Man, where movement is very fluid, to God of War, where there is no jump button and your character is a bit heavy, messes with my mind a bit for the first few minutes.

I tend to play a lot of games when doing reviews that strike me the same way. Like right now I'm reviewing Velocity 2x, which I just beat, and MagiCat that I'm a good way into, and neither left much of an impression on me. V2X is a good game for sure... but I feel uninspired by it. Much of it was samey and it was well enough constructed, but just kind of... there. I struggle to write about games like that because I don't even know how I feel about it.

I remember playing through much of the first Velocity. Then when the second one came around, eventhough they added platforming elements, I couldn't be bothered.

I definitely felt the same about the first Velocity. Thought maybe the new stuff would make a difference... not so much. The price is crazy steep too. It's a $20 game that feels like it should be $10 max.

A lot of Switch games seem to be on the steep side. When I saw 30 for Cave Story I thought it was that 3DS remake... nope looks like the original game.
