Crapload of Space

I didn't tell you guys yet, but last week I bought a 2TB drive for my PS4. I did it mostly because I heard the news Red Dead Redemption 2 needs a mandatory 100 gig install. I installed it Friday night. It went okay, except when it was time to boot up the PS4 I had the wrong system software - I had the update, not the full software. After that it went fine. Now I have a crapload of space. I reinstalled all my games, but Final Fantasy XV needed a 29 gig update. I told Joaquim and Yarger most of that is the lead character's hair, ha ha.

I also bought the retail version of Banner Saga Trilogy. I saw on the eShop that each entry was $25, and the retail trilogy was $50 for all three games. So I ordered it. Haven't played it yet. I did finish the first one on PC a while back, but I wouldn't mind playing it again, it was that good.

My sister and nephews are visiting later in the month, so I ordered a classic controller and a third party controller so me and the three boys can play Mario Kart on the Switch. I have Fortnite too if they're into that. We'll see.

It's been cooler here, in the seventies and eighties and I've been loving it.

Oh, are they still selling 2TB hard drives? Seems like not so much memory these days. How time accelerates in the tech world; five years into a thing and it's a distant memory already.

All joking aside, I only just began to see the possible value of keeping all my game downloads on a drive when I went into my Xbox 360 and had issue redownloading an old game I had bought. I think I might be able to fix the problem, but it worries me. But then again, I have so many downloaded games now, I almost don't care to have some iron clad solution. Let them go, I say. All that is in the cloud can stay in the cloud. I'm mentally ok with it all now. Ommmmmm.

ha ha, the 2TB is actually the biggest drive you can buy and fit into the PS4 without really modding it. Otherwise you need to do some insane shit. Mothman did tell me though that he uses a 6TB that he connects via USB.

I have a lot of digital games too, and I wanted to have them available in case I wanted to play them. I do buy games on sale online occasionally, and they add up.

I've been installing and deleting games constantly on Xbox. I worry that one day I won't be able to get them, but it would be really time consuming to load up a drive of all those games, as tempting as that is to me. And now that I have Game Pass, those games could disappear any month. I'm somehow coming to terms with not having physical copies. I'm going with the flow of the digital stream, man. CyberZen.

Glad everything went smoothly. Having the space really does help, and I have thought about upgrading but I might just grab an old USB external for now as a temporary setup when I get RDR2. I probably won't get it for a bit, but just in case I should be ready for that crazy install.

Well I was inspired by your post and I did actually just grab an old external and the majority of the installed games from the PS4 to the external. It feels good having a lot of free space.

I would like to buy a drive for my PS4, but I kinda like forcing myself to only have a few games at a time.

... Then I inevitably want to play something I don't have downloaded, so yeah I might go to Target.

The easiest drive upgrade is to go the external route. You plug it in, format it and tell the PS4 to use it as the primary drive. My 2 TB internal is just about full so I bought a WD 6 TB USB 3 drive (5.5 after formatting) You can go as high as 8 TB for the external drive.

Yes, but the amount of data expands to fill the space no matter how big it is.
