Funny Story

I have a funny story. My sister is ten years older than me, so when I was eight or nine, she went away to college. During this time, she dated lame guys. Around when I was ten or eleven or so, I'm not sure, she was dating this one dude, and the two of them must have been babysitting me and my younger brother, cause they took us off to the mall to hang out. I guess the guy was trying to impress my sister, as he bought me and my younger brother a copy of the Sega Genesis game, Golden Axe. My brother and I were like, "Whoa!" We played the hell out of that game. Eventually, my sister broke up with this boyfriend, and my father told me eventually some woman called him complaining the guy stole all her credit cards. Well - he may have been an asshole, but my brother and I made out like bandits. Ha ha.

Y'know, people like me who were at most 9 years old in the 90s tend to romanticize that decade, but it's nice to be reminded it had loser douchebags maxing out credit cards in it too.

They’re timeless. They were even in ancient Rome.

Yeah, but the involvement of malls, teen dating, and credit cards reminds me of the 90s. I'm literally picturing Mallrats as I type this (least favorite Kevin Smith movie, but still).

Yeah... there’s a mall near here and it’s like stepping back into the nineties when I’m there.

There are a couple in Dallas, but they're updated enough.

The "hall" in Nacogdoches (rural part of Texas where I went to college) was a bit more 90s, as is the Lufkin one. I miss their Hot Topic. lol

I was the eldest in my family. My babysitters just made me mad.

Mall, Sega game, I'm kinda hoping he "bought" Golden Axe at either Software Etc., or Kaybee Toys.
