This was my ancient PC gaming rig when I lived in Minnesota about 1996. This was where I played Quake, Master of Orion, and other games I can't remember. At that same time, we were playing Wipeout and Final Fantasy 7 on the PSONE. My parents had redone the basement in our house on the lake, and it was very cozy with a nice fireplace and was very enjoyable on the winter nights.

I can't remember the stats for that computer, but as you can see it had one of those CRT tube monitors. Good times.

I remember getting leftover PCs from my friend's job around that time. We'd hook 'em up and play Doom. I think that's how we got those PCs. I'll have to ask him tomorrow 'cause he'll probably remember.

CRTs. . . I think I switched to flat screens sometime around '04 or so. I'm not breaking my back on one now, even if they do look better for retro gaming. I noticed in Sega Classics Collection that they emulate the curved screen and colors of a CRT if you want it. I like that.

you know, we didn't adapt the LCD TV's until 2007... we were late to the party.

I bought a flat screen in 2013 and skipped the entire console generation before this current one because I didn't have an HDTV. I bought my PS4 early 2014.

You were earlier to the party than I was.

Either way, it’s a fun party.

Mark and I were playing Halo split/screen a lot. I was always looking to see if he was cheating by looking at my side of the screen (not hard to do even if you're not trying). That was my main interest in getting seperate tvs. Flat screens were just getting under $1k. The last one I got, probably around 2012, was the same size, better resolution but cost me under $200.

I have fond memories of my Windows 95 machine. One of the highlights of my childhood was going to Staples and buying those "300 Games For Windows" shareware discs.

yeah when I got that compute there was a disc of a couple hundred cheap games, and I played the hell out of them.

I misread the title of this as Ancient Gaming Pig. Musta had something to do with Quarterman's avatar. LOL

Well when I was a youg'un PC's didn't have them fancy multi terabyte hard drives, wide screen colour monitors or gigabytes of RAM.

We had dual 360k Floppy disks, 64k of memory and a monochrome monitor (green or orange on black), and thats the way we liked it!

Oh man I remember my first computer. It was a 233mhz Packard Bell with a 6GB hard drive and the big thing was that it had Windows 95 from Sears. It was my second year at SDSU and my dad came down from Hawaii, and we went to buy it at mall. I think a couple of months later the hard drive crashed and Sears sent out a repair man and put in a new drive.

Its funny to look back on it and think about how my phone is a lot faster, has more storage and has a better screen than that badboy. I do miss that computer.
