You've never heard J-E-N-O-V-A like this before.

Death, Rebirth, Life - 1986

From: Final Fantasy VII

Remixed by: Anti-Syne

"J-E-N-O-V-A" from FFVII is the world's greatest boss theme, in my opinion. It stresses the urgency and danger of the situation with its rhythmic motion while deftly using its intrumentation to emphasize the alien nature of your enemy. Its use in the game fits the situation to a T and is an excellent example of Nobuo Uematsu's genius at work. This remix of that seminal piece is fascinating because it turns all that on its head and presents the song as vintage '80s electronica. Most interesting of all is that the remixer completely changes the underlying chord progression of the song while keeping it recognizably J-E-N-O-V-A. If you like '80s music or FFVII (or if you've bothered to read this far), definitely give it a listen. I'm also posting the original song in case you want to compare the two. It's pretty cool.

Really like that remix a lot. I have the Final Fantasy VII soundtrack on CD and love that music. Some songs I bought on iTunes as well and that is certainly one. Each time I hear it I remember how wonderful it was playing that game the first time. That song is in my iPod right now I like it so much!

A lot of the Final Fantasy music is worth owning. VII for sure. Glad you liked the remix!

Whenever I first started listening to the remix, my intial thought was Wtf is this!?, but then after 15 seconds or so it finally 'clicked'.

That was awesome, good find!

I know! That's why I included the original too. It's incredible how much the remixer changed while keeping it recognizably the same song.

It's very cool you posted them both to compare. I was not expecting the remix's style after hearing the original, but it is awesome. I guess anything can be turned into a dance track.
