Well good morning Pixlpeeps and happy last day of 2018…unless you’re in an area that is already 2019 but
This was one of the first meme’s I saw on Reddit and I couldn’t stop laughing. Also relax, it's a joke. Since we are at the end of one year and the start of another it is time to reflect on the resolutions or goals that I had for 2018 and what I want to accomplish in 2019. Let’s get started!
Game Goals
2018 Goals
01.Well I think I did play more games. I tried around 60 new games in 2018 and I finished 12. Not a bad number but it could have been a bigger number, but more on that later.
02.I think I did a good job in that because of bundles (my more bang for your buck theory), and since my laptop stopped playing games for a bit I shifted to other venues for games. Since my laptop is playing games again I will go back to playing games on Steam.
03.I started this with the garage sale. I got rid of some stuff that made some people happy but I still have a bunch of games sitting in bags ready for the next garage sale. I think this time I will post about it in Craigslist.
So what are my goals for 2019?
01. Play More Of What I Own: Sounds like common sense right? You bought it, play it. I have a lot of games that I bought thinking I will get around to it, and 2019 is the right time to do it.
02. Cut Back On Spending: 2018 was a year where I slowly stopped caring about what the latest and greatest game is coming out, and focused more on what appeals to me. Right before Christmas there were numerous sales on games that I could have jumped on but I wanted to finish 1 or 2 games I currently own before jumping into a new one. In previous years I would just stockpile games, but now I want to use that money for other hobbies, or to just sit in a bank. For 2019 I will keep track of how much I spend and what I buy.
03. Stop Playing Pay 2 Win Mobile Games: I was guilty of this since the iPad and Android tablets were released. The appeal is there, a freebie game, seems like fun and then you grind, grind, and grind some more. You can use real cash to quickly upgrade your character but then it’s more grinding. I’m over this. 2019 I plan on stopping this, and only play games that I feel are “real” games. Games that you might pay a couple of dollars for, no In App Purchases, and there’s an ending. The only exception to this is Disney Emoji Blitz which I have friends that play and I can use the emoji’s in text messages (I’ve only used them once or twice)
Non Game Goals
2018 Goals
01.Well for half the year I was in on the gym, but it stopped. No excuses I got lazy.
02.Well in 2018 on Goodreads I had a goal of 20 books, and I think I read 24. I can do better
03.I’m starting to do this. I’ve had a Spotify Account for a couple of months and I’ve been enjoying the new music section, browsing through my friend’s playlists, and yes secretly judging their taste in music.
04.Yeah I could have been more active, but I haven’t. Sorry Pixlpeeps.
05.I got farther than I did in 2017. I think I saved up around $230 in the 52 Week Challenge but spent it on…well I don’t really know. I must have been short a couple of bucks here and there.
2019 Goals.
01. Gym. Yes the Gym: I will not only spend time on the treadmill listening to audiobooks, podcasts, and music, but I will also mix in the use of weights. I’m lucky to have a somewhat fancy set in the garage where I can learn without feeling self conscious before trying out the ones at the neighborhood gym. I can learn through YouTube, and from friends which will help. I should use the local Rec Center Gym too because there’s an older guy who loves to help out people.
02. Read More: I’ve started this early because why wait for 2019? I fixed the issues I’ve had with my library card (thanks ex-girlfriend and crazy fines). Since this has been resolved I can now use their online ebook service that I can send checked out books to the Kindle App. I finished two books that were short but interesting and now I want to check out more Jack Reacher stories and more quirky history books. For 2019 I think I will put my book reading goal back to 1 book a month, so I can read at a slower pace.
03. Focus On Other Hobbies Besides Games: Don’t get me wrong gaming is a lot of fun but I’d like to be more diverse with my interests. Reading is something I’ve been off and on about but the last two years I’ve been doing more of it. I want to check out more comics, read more about different subjects I would normally skip, heck go back and brush up on my Art History stuff. This is also where I want to try new music, and maybe jump into new hobbies.
04. Learn something new: this one is a little vague but I don’t want to actually share this one right now. I want to get started first, see if it sticks and then share it.
05. Use the local library: This should be closer to Read More, but there is more to the library than just checking out books. I spent some time in the local library, and I found that they have a one hell of a media section (pretty solid for a small town) but the good thing is that I can use my card in other cities in the valley. This will help with my discover new music, find new hobbies, and learn something new. Heck I think my card works on the local JC’s library.
06. Stop Watching The News: This sounds odd, but here is my reasoning, I’m tired of it. It has become so negative and slanted that I would rather read about it from places like Twitter and Reddit (the controversial section always gets a read), and from here I will just make up my mind. National news is total garbage, and after starting to question my local news with the funny/snarky anchor I looked into the parent company and they basically state that they have a bias. So I will watch the news for actual local news but once it switches to National I’m out.
There are probably more but I can’t think of them right now. Funny how that works. Anyways I am off. There are things to do so for now have a good 2018 and bring in 2019! I might be back on later for a Christmas recap, but for now,
That’s all for now, more later!
