So usually when you think turnbased games you think Srpgs, this day and age in the rpg world most games are real time or action oriented. But this isnt always the case as is with Enchanted Arms  not only  did it go the TB route, it dared to  be different  and included a gay side to the  game which  all i can say on that is its  about time, and i say this in a kind way, im  not gay but like i always say to each there  own and you are who you are, and lets face  it its a part of life which has been dated to  way back B.C and its about time game  developers get open minded and cater to all  race, sex, whatever.

So at any rate one of our fellow pixlbitters posted about this game not long ago and got me thinking, this is a very underated rpg, and if you look at reveiws everyone says how hard this game is, well this game is not hard except maybe to noobs to rpgs, this game requires you to grind, and grind and then grind some more. Trust me when you go to fight the ice Queen you damn well better be at level 60, cause if your not you will get you ass handed to you.

I have to admit that im really enjoying this game, it does have a strange but awesome story, and over a 100 characters that can join you,is very impressive, and for $4.99 at gamestop you really cant go wrong. Now with that said the turn based fighting may turn alot of you, but its not bad i mean its not like the kingdom of Amular or Final Fantasys battle system but its old school, honestly i miss alot of the old school grinding i remember putting tape on the controller and leaving the room for hours to come back to a leveled up character, lol the voice acting is the only real bad thing in this game, i mean its terrible and the voices are so annoying sometimes you feel like turning off the volume anyway this is a good game and when i beat it i will reveiw it so until then peace out.Laughing

I have this but the voice acting really turned me off. I tried to get into it.  I still have my copy somewhere though....

What Snee said!

The voice acting is horrible. Although not as horrible as Arc Rise Fantasia but horrible nontheless.

I ended up turning the sound off altogether and that made it better. I still didn't finish it though.

I let my ears bleed....as terrible as it is I somehow strut through the game still. With slight cringing every now and then haha.

Looks like a game I'd be into. Graphics are amazing. At that price I could give it a go. I agree with you on the gay thing. To each their own. It has no effect on me or my life how someone else is living theirs. I am convinced that being gay is the way someone is born. Reason being I grew up with a guy who was sort of effeminate but also was a womanizer. He dated all sorts of girls in high school. When I went away to college I guess something changed.  Came back into town and heard he was living with a dude! That's when I put 2 and 2 together and figured out it's genetic. Not a choice at all.

I almost got this game the other day. I may go back and see if it is still there.

I'm probably appreciating Jeanne D'Ark on my psp for much of the same reason. Aka, a beautiful game with a good story that has old school strategic turn based combat. Maybe I'll check out Enchanted Arms in the future as well. Thanks for enlightening me!

I got this game a little while back, it looked cool and yes, it was only 5 bucks used. I grew up playing turn-based, grind heavy JRPGs, so it's right up my alley. Only played a bit of it, to make sure the game worked, but plan to go back to it posthaste. Yeah, the voice acting ain't great, but I've heard worse.

I bought this game a few years ago and I still hadn't played it yet.  I keep hearing it's not a great game.  This is the first time I ever read some is enjoying it.  It gives me hope that I'll enjoy it too.

I saw this game being played a long time ago, but I never played it myself. I've been meaning to check it out, but it seems as if something else always grabs my attention before Enchanted Arms can.

My brother owns it and I tried to play it but couldn't get into it right away since he took it back from me. Ill just have to get my own copy. I have been interested in playing it though!

Funny. My friend tried it out and didn't like it at first. The beginning is mostly dialog with annoying Makoto being as over-the-top gay as he possibly can be. I started playing it next and kept with it until the battles started. After a while you lose Makoto and Toya and you pick up a possibly more annoying shrewish female character. It's all more humerous than annoying to me. I'm actually enjoying the voice work. Characters being annoying actually makes them seem more real to me. Anyway, my friend was watching me play all this time and changed his mind about the game and this weekend we will be playing it in tandem. He'll probably catch up to me even though I have a 15 hour head start. I'm glad you are playing it too leeradical42. We'll all have something to share over the next few weeks.

Also, I noticed the grid in the battles reminds me of Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes. There's no color matching here in Enchanted Arms but the grid is oriented the same way as is the way attacks have ranges and areas of effect.

I knew there was someone on here that got this game cause i saw your blog and saw turn based with hexes and knew i had to get it,lol yea i started last night and must say thsts the longest tutorial i have ever seen wow i spent two freaking hours on the damn tutorial and you are correct my freind. Matoya is so over the top gay its like i want to bitch slap him lmao!!! Ok i will behave but i was told by everyone that you have to grind but if you say you dont then i will beleive you and mosey along and not grind,i just heard that later some of the bosses are very hard. I still cant beleive i paid $4.49 for this one and both of the condemn games, i love being a cheap ass gamer lol

Yea, cheap is good. I'm only 15 hours in, so maybe further in it gets hard and you have to back track for leveling. I hope not but I'll find out as I put in some serious hours this weekend.

Oh, I forgot. This game is so far not hard at all. After 15 hours I finally lost a battle but the game let me replay it immediately with no loss of stats, items or characters. And so far I haven't felt like I was grinding at all. Your progress in the game is pretty linear with random encounters along your route. I've yet to back track just to gain levels.

Too bad I am enough of an RPG n00b to find it easy, most likely, but for around five bucks, maybe I wouldn't care. Don't have a 360/PS3 though. Oh well. It does look cool.
