Good morning and hello BaD. Like I said I was going to wing it when it comes with the theme for this year and when I was brushing my teeth it hits me, I always start the day with music so why not share what I am listening to? Since it is the First of the Month…
C’mon it’s obvious.
Since it is Friday it’s another Quick Hits with Chris. Today we shall talk about well whatever comes to me while I’m typing. Sound good? Let’s get started.
Chris Watches…
I’ve had Tombstone playing in the background when I wake up and while asking Siri for Top Headlines in regular news (blah) and more important news, top Sports Headlines. Well today HBO switched it up and started with Maverick. Remember Maverick the late 90s Western about Poker, or something? Yeah that film. At least at night I can always find a showing of CHiPS which has quickly become one of my favorite fun movies. It’s silly and a fun watch.
Last weekend was wrestling weekend with NXT Takeover which is always good, and WWE Royal Rumble and main roster Pay Per Views are always too long and at times I was on my iPad doing other things.
Chris Reads…
It is a new month, and it’s time for me to start back up with my reading. My goal is to read 12 books and I am sitting pretty at 8 books read with two audiobooks sitting on the phone. I’m on my last Humble Bundle DC Audiobook and I have to say the $15 I spent for these books were worth it. So much enjoyment and learning about Superheroes that I wouldn’t normally read about. After these two books I will try and jump back into the Kindle App to read a “physical” book.
Chris Listens To…
I’m still on my kick of cleaning/purging my digital music library on the external. I’m getting rid of all the low quality rips, low quality mixtapes, keeping some bootlegs, and just fixing the sorting issues of Chris from previous years. I also took a break of ripping CDs to FLAC to finish this so everything can live in one tidy space.
Chris And Taxes…
Well it went well. I like the tax guy I use and I’ve been going to him for awhile now. Quick, painless, he explained everything and then I was off to the mall to look at the latest CDs being sold and a pretzel to snack on while people watching before I went home. I went on the first day to file and everything is good.
Pickups
From that mall trip I bought these album
$1.99 Buy 5 Get 2 Free
98 Degrees - The Collection
Karmin - Pulses
Lita Ford - Lita
Lita Ford - Stiletto
AC/DC - Volts
The Beta Band - Hot Shots II
Original Broadway Cast - The Who’s Tommy
311 - Don’t Tread On Me
Toad The Wet Sprocket - Acoustic Dance Party
NBC’s Smash - Bombshell
John Williams - Star Wars Trilogy: The Original Soundtrack Anthology
Bob Dylan - Greatest Hits
The Beta Band - Heroes To Zeroes
98 Degrees because it has a couple of songs from albums I don’t have for my 90’s Boy Bands section, remember Karmin from YouTube? I think around mid 2000s I used to watch their videos and bought one of their albums on iTunes, and bought their first physical EP. When this album came out I kind of lost interest so I never picked it up. The 1993 Star Wars Anthology was my big score. It is supposed to come with a long box, and an art book, but I’m not complaining because it has some unreleased tracks and I really dig the 20th Century Fox Fanfares at the beginning of each CD. Also the recordings sound so freaking good!
Bob Dylan I got for $4 and I’m going to give his music another chance. People love him, I really wasn’t into his music the first time I listened to it, but tastes have changed so I’m giving it another shot. The Beta Band album was thrown in as a freebie.
So while buying the giant bag of rice from Smart & Final (I don’t know if this is a nation wide spot but think a smaller Costco without the membership) and right next door is my favorite Goodwill. They didn’t have much in gaming other than a PS2 Slim, and a boxed Wii, but hot damn there were a ton of CDs. In the music section it just an older guy and me, digging through and finding cool stuff. I found these CDs for $1.99 each
Backstreet Boys - Millennium
Eagles - Eagles
Various Artists - Twilight Soundtrack
Diana Krall - Christmas Songs
Guns N’ Roses - Live Era 87-93
Fatboy Slim - You’ve Come A Long Way, Baby
Backstreet because 90s Boy Band section of my library, Eagles replaces the LP I sold at my Garage Sale, Twilight because I wanted a physical copy of the Paramore tracks I bought years ago, Diana Krall to replace the iTunes album, Guns N’ Roses because it’s G N’R, and Fatboy Slim because the late 90s/early 2000s.
While this was going on Amazon dropped this off
I wanted it for my soon to be FLAC library. Not a bad CD for $6 new.
Alright Pixlpeeps I am off, have a good weekend!
That’s all for now, more later!

I wish I had already done my taxes. They'll be W-2s and the only other thing to consider is tax-deductible charitable donations (never actually looked into those before, but got emails from some places I gave to last year) and student loans/payments. Too bad my stuff hasn't been sent out yet. Well, at least the university seems to have waited until the last minute. The staffing agency still lets me do things digitally (apparently I "revoked my consent to receive tax information digitally" when I was let go from the university and stopped checking those emails).
All this tax talk makes me want to play some games about death ...

The donations, always grab a receipt from those spots as proof. I think my tax guy may have told me that. I'm not really a fan of digital when it comes to paperwork but it did bail me out last week when my time card went missing so I just filled it out online.

My parents love that Maverick movie. They’ve watched it a lot. It’s a bit too silly for me, not that I have anything against silly stuff, but I’m just like... eh. It does have some funny moments though.
I could really use a mall pretzel about now...

It's not a bad flick but I do like starting my day quoting random parts of Tombstone. It was on this morning and for the first time in a while I got to see the beginning instead of jumping into it around the middle.

I got an Alexa Echo device for Xmas but I still haven't hooked it up yet. I kind of want to check it out.

I'm one of those folks who thinks those devices spy on people yet I ask Siri the most random things and she's probably recording me as well.

They say they learn from you speaking to them. Reminds me of Seaman on Dreamcast. They learned too. I wonder if Siri or Alexa evolves into frog people like in Seaman.

Man that game, I remember when my friend bought it and we all took turns playing it. At the time I thought it was a failure of a game but looking back Dreamcast was one hell of a system that got lost in the Playstation shadow. Tons of awesome games, and a cool memory card, the VMU's

Dreamcast was pretty cool. I let mine go recently though. I can't keep everything.
I still quote silly things Mark and I made the Seaman say in that "game".
