Linked to Article Series: Blog a Day 2019

Finally finished a rough draft of my video review of GRIS, which has been posted to YouTube, but I'll share a link once the final draft is done and on this website. Then I'll review Iris.Fall and then it'll be on to Life is Strange 2 Seasons 2-5, which I still need to buy (still pissed you can't buy episodes individually).

In other news, apparently Sony will not be at E3, which I view as pretty much a sign of the end for it. It's sad, but I think the guy is right that the world has changed and E3 hasn't really changed with it.

Anyway, have a good one Pixlpeeps!

I never hung out at the Sony booth much anyway at E3.  It was always too crowded.  Speaking of E3, I did just register for a press pass for this year's show.  We'll see if I get one like last year.

Hope you can get it, Cary!

My friend loves E3 and wants to go, but I'd rather go to PAX, any PAX. I love watching E3 live footage though. It's like superbowl for me.

I haven't watched E3 live. I always just catch the trailers later. I should though; be less annoying to just have all the trailers in one place, cause a lot of stuff I think looks interesting doesn't get as much coverage.

I need to set up an E3 party. But then again, the presentations are spread out over several days. Maybe that's not practical.

Wouldn't be surprised if more drop out. I like Nintendo's approach, although they could easily do everything they usually do at their HQ.

It just seems costly and unnecessary at this point, since most are just watching from home and you can send things to the press without buying convention space, etc.

I lost interest in E3 a few years ago. When Nintendo made their big Breath of the Wild push is the last time I really tuned when things were happening. I have too many awesome games I haven't played to get excited about new ones and hareware upgrades no longer blow us away with graphical jumps.

The reason I'm not excited about new hardware is more because of, as in 2006, the cost to run it at its best/intended quality. I skipped the consoles that came out in '05/'06 because what was the point without also upgrading to an HDTV I couldn't afford when I was already pushing it with the console itself. 4KTVs aren't quite inexpensive enough for me to care just yet, especially with my backlog.

Having said that, I've been pretty amazed by some of the graphics this generation, so I wouldn't rule out being amazed by something in the next. I still remember thinking PS2 was the only step left before real-life graphics, so it's all relative to me.

I played Destiny on PS3 and then got a PS4 and played it on there, and the graphics were noticeably better, so there probably always are ways for them to get better. But people keep talking about Sony winding down the PS4 and prepping to announce PS5, and I'm like...I'm still so happy with PS4. I'm not jonesing for better hardware yet. I don't feel like we've maxed out these ones yet.

I think Nintendo has it right with the Directs. I tend to wonder if Sony plans to go that route instead of E3. I know they also have started doing a show in December similar to E3 and while it didnt happen last year I imagine they will this year. I always wanted to go to E3 years ago but now its a hard pass for me. Its just too crazy for me.

I would have thought past years were more crazy. Booth babes and such. lol

I'm readt for a PS5. But I need a 4k tv as well. New shiny stuff rules.

Yeah, E3 might be a thing of the past soon...

Good job on your review, man!

Wasn't there another company that pulled out last year? I really don't follow E3 but I always make sure to watch the Sony presentation. I get their reasoning and it does make sense but it was always cool to have one venue where everyone showed off their latest and greatest.

If nothing else, it does suck I'll never get to experience it in person the way it's meant to be experienced now.
