I never really got into Wipeout. Futuristic racers I played were F-Zero or Extreme G. My brother had the PlayStation and if he ever played Wipeout I don't remember it.

Wipeout was another one of those games where me and my brothers played the demo for eons before getting the real game. It was even a game that my older brother - who hadn't played a game in years - enjoyed. It's basically the concept of Mario Kart, where you race around a track and pick up weapons to slow down your opponent, but in a realistic, futuristic world set to 90s techno music.
It's a bit more complex than Mario Kart though, control wise. First of all, it's faster, and the roads are curvier. Also, they have different elevation, unlike old Mario Kart. And, you can also control the pitch of the craft's height on the track and its pitch, which makes taking turns and stuff more difficult or more easy, depending on how good you are at it.
Frankly, it's an absolutely exhilirating game, and I love it and its great soundtrack. I've played its sequel and loved those too, but it's the original experience with my brothers that I'll never forget.
