XENOSAGA. That's great! Truly have no idea what it is aside from the title, but you like it so I like it.

When I was wondering today what game to write about, I started thinking about the PS2's Xenosaga series. And then I couldn't stop thinking about how much I loved Xenosaga. I never finished the first game...it's difficult and I have no attention span, but I've played through half of it about three times. The game notoriously has an insane amount of cut scenes, but the story is REALLY good, and the characters are really complex, so it's cool. Otherwise it's your typical JRPG, with random battles and turn based combat.
It's the spiritual successor to the PSONE's Xenogears, a great game in its own right, and the predecessor to the Xenoblade games. Usually these games have complex stories with complex themes, as that's what fans have come to expect.
There's just something magical about Xenosaga though. It's so ambitious, and it realizes those ambitions. This is a serious game, a great work of art, not disposable like so many other things in our culture.
I wish they would re-release this. As I was thinking about it today, I considered digging my PS2 slim out of the closet and hooking this up. Maybe I still might...
