Rez, originally released for the PS2, and then the Xbox360, and now available as a PSVR game - is one of my favorites. I'm not saying it's the best game - in fact, it's very simple and short. But I've played through it at least ten times, and have loved every minute.
In the mid to late nineties, in certain circles, there was an almost utopian optimism that the future's technology would make the world a better place. As we all know, that hasn't happened. But Rez is a product of that psychedelic optimism.
In the game, you are a hacker trying to break into a locked system. Basically, you're a figure flying through this computer, using the target to aim and fire at stuff. Every sound that happens in the game syncs perfectly with the techno soundtrack. For example, if you line up a string of hits, it sounds like the music is crescendoing. It's actually quite uncanny.
I first saw it played when I visited New York on a business trip in 2001 shortly before 9/11. I watched it being played and was quite impressed. I didn't get to play it myself until the 360 version, but it's the PSVR version that will truly knock your socks off. It is AMAZING.
If this description of the game interests you, I definitely recommend trying it out. The non-VR version is available for PS4 I believe.
