I have never heard of this game but the art style takes me back when almost all games had the same look. I wouldn't worry about the ratings of these games. A lot of the games I liked were not highly rated yet they were a ton of fun.
Hmmm, Looks Familiar - Battle of Olympus

I've noted before that I have a fondness for 2D sidescrolling RPG's like Zelda 2. Battle of Olympus, for he NES, is kind of like that. I didn't play this much though. My brother did however, eventually beating the hell out of it.
It does look a little like Zelda 2, huh?
Anyway, the game takes place in an Ancient Greece type setting with mythological ideas. There is light platforming, and it's a little nonlinear. Finding certain items early can help make the game easier.
My brother seemed to love this game, but I looked on Wikipedia and Famitsu gave it a 28/40 back in the day. Not so great. It's pretty forgotten now, but I remember it.
