It kind of reminds me of the early 3-D arcade racing games Hard Drivin' and Stunt Drivin'.
Driving Crazy - Stunts

Now, I'm willing to bet you guys have never heard of this game. Stunts was a PC driving game released by Broderbound back in 1990. In it, you race other cars on stunt tracks, doing jumps and loops, etc. It's in "3D", and was quite impressive at the time. I never owned it, but I use to play it at my friend's house after school. I was a little obsessed with it.
The key to it though, the feature that made it truly great, was that it had a track editor where you could make your own stunt tracks. I fooled around with this a lot, making my own crazy tracks that were impossible to complete.
Besides screwing around with Basic programming when I was very young, this was the first opportunity I had to be really creative with a video game,, and I was thrilled with it. I loved making my own tracks.
The actual driving was pretty bad though. The car didn't control too well, and most of the time, I would spin off the road or crash. I guess it was good for the time though.
But that track editor... SO fun.
