I met my baby nephew, Patrick, while visiting my brother and sister-in-law Sunday afternoon. Pat is adorable like you read about and I think he's in good hands. I wasn't there for long: maybe 90 minutes tops before they had to leave for family pictures. I'll see them again this coming Sunday when the baby shower drops. My brother and sis-in-law tried for adoption for 4 years and they lucked out with this little guy.
Gaming-wise, I've spent a little more time with Apex Legends and Forza Horizon 4 these past 2 weeks. I was close to deleting Apex Legends before sticking with it for another 3 hours and leveled up some. I still haven't been on a winning squad and I normally get killed pretty quick. To be honest, I'm not sure if I want to stick with this or if the Battle Royale genre is right for me. I wouldn't be surprised if I eventually delete it off the hard drive for fear that everyone else playing is way more advanced and accomplished than I am. It doesn't feel very welcome for newbies.
Forza Horizon 4, by comparison, is challenging but way more accessible. I'm more receptive of racers that are arcade-like (Daytona USA, Burnout Paradise) and FH4 can feel like that at times but it truly gets into the technical for car aficionados. But it is so gorgeous and it controls beautifully and while I've got a long way to go as far as unlocking areas and cars, I'm not feeling like I'm bashing my head against the wall.
Assassin's Creed Origins gets plenty of playtime (it's also a game I like to play while listening to podcasts) but as I've posted earlier, it's so big that I feel daunted in a way that's reserved for Bethesda RPGs. I just love going through this recreated period, finding treasure, killing corrupt politicians and soldiers.
I keep wanting to stream a game again through either Twitch or the Mixer app. Something like Alien Isolation or Dead Space. People would probably delight in me losing my shit playing those nerve racking experiences.
I did see Jordan Peele's new film, Us, this past weekend and really enjoyed it. I'll see it again this weekend so I can if it can hold up to more viewings as one. But I'm just as impressed here as I was with Get Out. I completely forgot about the Hands Across Campaign campaign when it existed in the mid-80s and I loved how Peele implemented it here.
