Funky Ninja Beatz - Revenge of Shinobi

Revenge of Shinobi was a Sega Genesis ninja game that I played endlessly when I was a kid. I guess it was a sequel to the original Sega arcade game, Shinobi. But Revenge was SO much better. It had a lot of great gimmicks, including ninja powers, a cool double jump, boss fights with unlicensed versions of Batman, Spiderman, Terminator, and the Hulk; and even pious nuns who turned into scantily clad female assassins.

I played the game over and over, but never beat it. It got tough towards the end, and the last level is an insane, side scrolling labyrinth that I could never figure out.

It had great music, including some pretty funky tunes, and A LOT of different levels that were usually pretty clever.

It was probably one of my top five Genesis games when I was a kid.

Why has there never been a scantily clad nun protagonist? I mean, I'm guessing that Bubblegum Chainsaw game with the cheerleader zombie fighter or whatever gave you a costume option like that (maybe? I never played it), but why not a scantily clad nun on the box?

I never really got into Shinobi games. They were pretty hard. I did like that one of them had a dog who would help you. And the music in one of the Genesis games was done by Yuzo Koshiro. Shinobi and Rolling Thunder seemed to kind of rip off one another, but then, SEGA and Namco did that a lot back then in arcades.

the one with the dog is pretty cool. I didn't have it but my friend did and I played it at his house.

I don't think I ever played the Genesis version of Shinobi but I did play the Game Gear version. Just like the problems you had with the last level I don't think I ever finished the Game Gear version.
