2019 - This Really Could Be The Best Year Ever

Long time, no blog.  Life is busier than ever with toddler, still newish city, and about 6 months into a much needed new job.  I am currently playing Sekiro and the only other game I completed this year is RE2.

One thing I have been thinking about recently, is how 2019 could end up being one of my favorite years in gaming.  I just wanted to quick run through a list of games, both released and upcoming that should provide context as to why this is my year in games.

Played:
RE2 - holy crap, this game came and devoured me like a zombie devours the living.
Sekiro - I played Bloodborne late last year and was reminded how much I loved that game.  Sekiro takes most of what I love from Bloodborne and cranks it up into a pure action game removing the RPG elements.

Upcoming/Unplayed:
Metro Exodus:  I have been a fan of this series since 2033...  hence my name.  I haven't gotten to it yet since RE2 took longer than I was anticipating and Sekiro was 2 weeks off and I did knew I wanted to start Sekiro on day 1.
Kingdom Hearts 3:  KH 1 and 2 were games I loved back when they released, while my excitement for 3 has waned, the fact it released in 2019 is notable.
Yoshi's Crafted World:  I have always been a fan of the Yoshi games, even if I haven't played all of them.
Rage 2:  I have been a fan of bethesda's publishing output the past few years.  I also loved 2016 Doom and Mad Max.  This looks to be an awesome blend of both.
Wolfenstein Youngbloods:  I think I have talked quite a bit about my love of The New Order and The New Collosus here, so this shouldn't be a surprise.  Also, Arkane is working on this and they are one of my favorite developers.
Control:  Don't have much to say, just excited for a game featuring what appears to be psychic powers.
Jedi Fallen Order:  Had a blast with Titanfall 2's campaign, plus Star Wars...
XIII:  So, apparently they are remaking the pretty slick cel-shaded FPS from a couple gens back.
The Outer Worlds:  Obsidian made my favorite of the new Fallout games and this game looks to scratch some of the itch Fallout 4 wasn't able.
Bloodstained:  Ritual of the Night:  Iga, need I say more?
Doom Eternal:  Think I covered why with Rage 2.
Shovel Knight:  King of Cards:  Do i need to explain myself?
Rune Factory 4 Special:  I had a blast with this game on 3DS, wouldn't mind coming back to it with a fresh coat of paint.
Link Awakening:  A Link to the Past is one of my all-time favorite games...  of course i want another 2D Zelda...  even if it isn't technically 2D.

And then there is all of the unannounced games since the later half of the year looks rather empty.  I know I am missing some games, just can't think of them now.

There are a lot of 2019 games I'm looking forward to.  Some not on your list are Luigi's Mansion 3, the new Animal Crossing game, and Mario Maker 2.  Link's Awakening is my number one favorite Zelda game, so I'm happy about the remake, too.

I have never gotten into Animal Crossing, so I am not super excited for that game.
I own Luigi's Mansion 2, but never played it.  Will be willing to try 3 when it comes out.
I do not make levels, so Mario Maker 2 has limited appeal.
But awesome you are excited for them.

That's a good lineup. I forgot about Wolfenstein youngbloods. I'm going to have to watch a trailer on that tomorrow.

It looks awesome.  If I remember correctly, if you buy the deluxe edition, you can play co-op with only one disc....  and the deluxe edition is only $40

If it's $40, I may end up getting it because my friend will definitely get it day-one at that price.
