I remember ordering a Wii from Dell Computers and waiting about year to get one sent to me.
I've played Super Mario Galaxy. It's certainly impressive, but I never finished it.

There are many, many Mario games. But, despite my being old enough to remember playing the original Mario Bros on Atari, I didn't truly fall in love with the Italian plumber until Mario 64. Sure, I had played the NES games (SMB2 is my favorite), but I was never an unabashed fan until he hit the Nintendo 64. I found that game so magical and involving. I loved it. However, it hasn't aged the best, and seems a little strange and imprecise now. But I'll always have my memories.
Super Mario Galaxy, however, I think will age much better (aside from the terrible motion controls). I think that what the Galaxy games have going for them is an unrivaled inventiveness, based on a simple, core concept and its infinite variables - gravity.
There are truly great levels in Mario Galaxy, truly great mechanics, and truly great music. But most of all, there is truly great fun. Few video games match the sheer unadulterated fun of 3D Mario games, and Galaxy does it extremely well.
I'll always remember waking up early and getting my Wii at Best Buy - I had heard online they would have one (this was when they were hard to find.) Mario Galaxy was the first game I played. It was wonderful.
If you haven't played it, I can't recommend it enough. It is truly a work of art.
I love Mario games, too, and I did enjoy Super Mario Bros., but it wasn't the game that made me want to get a NES. I was still happy playing Pengo on my 5200. The game that made me want to get a NES was actually Zelda. I actually first played Super Mario Bros. in an arcade, not on the NES! I liked Mario 2 and 3, but not enough to actually own them. The first Mario game that I really got into was actually Super Mario World. Mario 64 is a fantastic game, too. One of my favorites.
Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are amazing games. Is it wrong of me to like those games more than Super Mario Odyssey?
