Now here is a game that didn't need to be made. In Donkey Kong 3, you play as Stanley, an exterminator called in to deal with a greenhouse that's been infested with... Donkey Kong. Lord knows what the big gorilla is doing in there, but he's causing havok and you need to take care of it. By spraying bug spray at him, you can get him to climb higher until...something happens, I forget what. You also have to kill angry bees he's apparently in league with.

I don't remember asking for this game as a kid, but my parents bought it for me anyway. I was not impressed with it at first, or later. But I played it nonetheless.

There are some damn good Donkey Kong games out there, but this isn't one of them. But it's not terrible.

That’s all this game deserves. Tongue Out

Ha! There. I have now provided two syllables for this game. I'd say that's fair.

Looking for work full time, turning down offers from places I'd love to work for but don't pay enough while waiting on other opportunities that I'd also love but are not yet set in stone. Navigating my own and others' personal issues like egg shells. Wondering when I'll get to sense some stability in my life.

I've also been finishing up some Netflix seasons I missed, which is neat.

I also plan to get Nick some more reviews soon; just haven't had the finances or time lately.

Good luck out there man! I know you’ll find the right thing eventually.

It's not a good game, but it is a creative take on the Galaga style shooter that was popular at the time.  First time I saw DK 3 was at a hotel but I didn't have time to play it then when I was a kid.  I kept thinking to myself, "Whatever happened to Donkey Kong 2?" Not realizing Jr. was DK2.

ah I never thought of it as Galaga inspired. That makes sense.

I likely played this on NES but I never saw an arcade cabinet of it. I played a lot of DK Jr., though, my favorite of the series.

you know, I don't think I've ever played Donkey Kong Jr! I used to love me some Pacman Jr. though!

DK Junior is available on the NES for Switch now, and so is the arcade version, as an Arcade Archives title. I definitely prefer the arcade version of the two. That said, NES version at least has all four levels, unlike the NES version of the originall DK, and was a pretty good home version for its time. The arcade version has better graphics, sound, and cut scenes. Either way, you should give it a try.

It's too bad Namco hated Jr. Pac-Man so much because it was made by Midway. It wasn't quite as good as Ms. Pac-Man, but isn't bad either.

I'm not sure why I liked DK jr. so much. I guess I kinda liked climbing vines.

I don't think I've ever tried DK3, but good to know to stay away from it. I guess the good people who made the game tried to make the most out of the franchise by continuing to churn out sequels, even if they don't live up to the previous titles.

I played the NES version of this, and I just downloaded the arcade version onto my Switch. I now have all three of the original DK arcade games.

This game is mostly frustratingly hard, even more so than Galaga or Gaplus. The arcade version naturally has a lot of details the NES version didn't. The bugs actually eat Stanley if there are enough of them on-screen when he dies. Donkey Kong ends up with half his face swollen when you push him up into a beehive. Kind of reminds me of Homer's stint as head bee guy,
