For a while my brother Jeff was into one of the later Sims games. I'll just stick to Animal Crossing, myself.
World Wide Waste - The Sims Online

The Sims Online came out in 2003. It wasn't the first massively online game based on a successful franchise, and it wasn't the last. I was visiting my friend in Pittsburg and he was playing it, so I tried it out when he worked during the day. It's basically the Sims but less fun. Online, you could interact with other people and do tedious things to earn points to decorate your Sims house. It was pretty terrible, and sort of a debacle for EA.
I played a good bit of it though. It was addicting at first. I created a character in a cop's uniform, but gave him long blond hair and a scruffy beard. I made my screenname "Hippie Cop." Some other players enjoyed this. Some didn't.
Unfortunately, there wasn't much to do in the game. Like I said, you could set your Sim to work in one way or another to earn points to spend. This mostly involved you sitting there and watching your Sim do it. It was a real grind. Took forever.
You also had to feed your Sim, make them sleep, send them to the bathroom, etc. There were bars on the screen when they needed to do these things, and if you didn't they would become unhappy. Couldn't have that!
I played it for a while, got sick of it, and forgot about it until today. Most other plays forgot about it too, including my friend.
