I had a blog all typed up yesterday, got sidetracked, grilled some steaks because it was warm outside and then promptly took a nap. The excitement of the start of my weekend right there. Anyways we haven’t talked this week and we should change that. Let’s get started with another Quick Hits of randomness.
Adventures In Netflix…
-Solo: I don’t get the hate, it was a solid flick. The Star Wars folks hit it out of the park with Rogue One and Solo. The only thing that bothered me was the mannerisms of the guy playing Solo. It seemed at times he was trying to hard. If this was a standalone flick it would have been fine, but I get what he was trying to do. Still a fan of this movie.
-Slow West: I like Westerns because of the pacing, the slow story telling, and the amazing views. This one was good with some familiar faces. It’s a good watch.
-Kill Bill 1 & 2: I saw 2 years ago, but it was time to watch both in order. It’s like each character had a water hose filled with movie blood under their costumes. There goes a head, gallon of blood,…arm, gallon of blood,…paper cut, gallon of blood.
-Finished House of Cards. I'm surprised about how much I liked this season even without Francis Underwood, but there was some over the top stuff. I do like the connection between the beginning of season 1 and the end scene and what it means.
-Still watching random TV shows and I believe I am almost finished with Season 1 of Voyager, skipping around in The Office, started No Reservations, and a couple of other random shows.
Other Watches…
-I finished the Wu Tang Clan’s Of Mic’s and Men and the last episode the one of one album, Once Upon A Time in Shaolin was discussed along with some falling out between the Clan and the management (seems like this always happens with groups).
-I got my DVR box replaced. The dang thing was acting up and kept freezing. I actually had an appointment for today, but the repairman in the area was working ahead of schedule and showed up with a new box, on Friday afternoon. There is a drastic jump in customer service from their call centers to guys in the field. The call centers are hit and miss with good people, while everyone I encountered in person have been very friendly.Props to Frontier.
Chris Listens To…
-Apparently Apple is killing off iTunes. What it sounds like is that they are further pushing apps that do just one thing. Remember when the Music Store had a tab for apps, or when the Music player could also play podcasts AND audiobooks? Yeah now Apple thinks I need a books app, a music app (that pushes Apple Music if you don’t turn this feature off), and separate store apps for music and apps. This is more of the same. Hopefully the new hotness that replaces iTunes is faster.
-Speaking of iTunes I’m currently listening to Wilco’s album, A.M.. Good album.
-Everyone on Twitter is posting their iTunes stats. My library currently stands at 55,474 tracks, 150.2 days of music, and 475.93GB. This is CDs, CD Singles, and purchased stuff from iTunes/Amazon/Google Play. I could hit 60k when I add my Mixtapes, and Band Bootlegs.
-Since everything is back to normal in my iTunes I bought a 200GB Micro SD card for $25 during a random Amazon sale and now my Android Music Player is filled.
I’m still debating on whether I should continue with my goal of having my entire library sit on the player. In theory its amazing to have my entire library in my pocket but at the same time do I really want to carry around songs that I probably won’t listen to? Anyways for now, I threw on a ton of albums and as I go I’ll remove add songs based on what I want to carry in my player.
Randomness
-Guess who locked themselves out of their laptop and had to do a fresh install? This guy. I’m glad that my laptop has a bay for a second hard drive that I keep everything on. The only thing lost was about 3 thousand fonts, but that’s on another drive that I will eventually install.
Pickups
Games
I am actually playing something new that I got for free thanks to Reddit
It’s kind of like choose your own adventure game with multiple choice questions. I’ll talk about it on Monday. It’s free on iOS.
Music
From the Mom and Pop, someone sold a lot of soundtracks because I found quite a few. Anyways from my usual spot I got
CeeLo Green - The Lady Killer
- Period - The Best Of Lauryn Hill (Mixtape CD)
“Weird Al” Yankovic - Alapalooza
The Beach Boys - Endless Summer
Seals & Croft - Greatest Hits
C+C Music Factory - Gonna Make You Sweat
Soundtrack - New Jack City
I bought the CeeLo single F You a couple of years ago on iTunes, so this album replaces that, the J. Period 2CD Mixtape has some live freestyles that I wanted, Weird Al is just fun, Beach Boys replaces the LP I sold, Seals & Croft because it certain songs remind me of my childhood, C+C replaces the old tape that I copied from a friend and lost way back when, and the New Jack City soundtrack for the alternate version of Color Me Badd’s I Wanna Sex You Up.
Dusty Springfield - The Very Best Of
Spin Doctors - Homebelly Groove…Live
Soundtrack - Music From The O.C. Mix 6
Soundtrack - Glee Sings The Beatles
1995 Broadway Cast - Grease
1972 Broadway Cast - Grease
Disney - The Little Mermaid Soundtrack
Who doesn’t love Dusty Springfield? Spin Doctors remind me of high school and I’m curious to hear how they sound on a live album, apparently I was missing that OC album. Hopefully this completes the set. Yeah I’m trying to have a full Glee discography. I love Grease, and I’ve been wanting to own the Broadway version, and I found two versions: an original one, and the one with Brooke Shields as Sandy. Little Mermaid replaces the tape release I lost years ago.
Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. Gems of War is calling, and the Wilco album has just ended. Have a good weekend.
That’s all for now, more later!
-Chris
