After I beat FF7, I thought to myelf, "Well that was neat because it was so different, but I have no desire to play that again."  That's a total opposite from when I beat FF6, because right after that I started it up again, and FF6 became one of my top five favorite games of all time.

But after playing the FF8 demo that came with Brave Fencer Musashi (a great game), I discovered that the differences I didn't like in FF7 are what they focused on in FF8.  So when it came time for the game to come out, I didn't get it.  That was the first time I wasn't interested in a FF game anymore.  It felt so weird to me back then.

Of course that changed with FF9, which I loved.  FF9 is what FF7 and 8 should've been.

OK since I don't know anything else about FF8, you have to pick a character from that game that you think I would like. :)

I think you would like Zell and Selphie. They are fun and optimistic. 

FF8 is a flawed game. That said, it occupies a special place in my heart among FF games in part because of the circumstances in my life when I got it - I was in the FF8 line on launch day; almost all of the customers at Electronics Boutique that day there were there for either FF8 or a Dreamcast - and for other reasons. Perhaps within the remastered version's launch window, which a few sources seem to suggest might be sooner rather than later, I will put out a blog detailing my experience with FF8.

I never played it. I want to though. One of these days I'm going to do a FF run and play them all. I mean, I've played the first one, FFIV and a little bit of XII, but I'd love to do a deep dive on the series. 

they are great games if you like that sort of thing. 

I really liked FF IV that I played on DS a while back. I didn't finish it though because I got stuck in the metal dungeon. Couldn't figure out what weapon would work in there. Stupid game. Loved everything else about it though. 

I thought the backgrounds and character animations, general art design was amazing when I first played it. Not sure how I feel about the game now. Main issue is the time it takes to load battles. Are the load times as bad as I remember? I was hoping for a remake but I'll take what I can get.

I seem to recall that load times aren't as much of an issue with these remasters. And the revitalized graphics look great. 

Square Enix usually does good with the loading times on its remasters. Come to think of it, they were usually able to manage load times better than most other people on the PS1's double-speed CD-ROM drive.

Me too. I have the VII and IX ports on Switch and look forward to adding VIII as well. Which will be a good feeling to have the original PlayStation trilogy on a Nintendo console finally. 

Yeah I’m really looking forward to it. Love that trilogy.
