Front Mission 4 is a turn based tactical rpg, developed by Square Enix and was relealesed in North America on June of 2004, the story takes place in Venezuela and Europe, its 2096 the world grew wary of the Republic of Zaftra. Zaftra began loosing foreign investments and many businesses withdrew from the union, resulting in major economic losses. Superpowers such as theUnited States of the new continent, refused offers from the union to import their natural resorces, the major economic driver of there economy, and so start the conflict.
So the hex style turn based combat may have alot of you all ready to run, but its done well and personally this was the last good front mission in the series, after this one they went more action fps style and thats why i am staying here with this one, i actually had a demo disc of this game back then and really enjoyed the demo which led me to buy it many years ago, but like alot of my games i traded it and have not pkayed it again till last night. It really has an interesting story probably nothing you havent heard before and the voice acting is questionable, but it works, the music is good and thats important in a TBSrpg because lets face it we spend alit of time on the battlefeild.
The graphics are ok nothing to over the top here but they dont look bad by any means, and the animations are clean and look good as well, but lets face it, if your a strategy fan the graphics dont have to be that great, the game dies get deep cause you can customize your mechs, with an array of different weapons or you can upgrade your mech or if you want just buy a new mech, the games that customizable.
But lets get to what a good srpg is and thats tactics and yes theres tactics, and tons of options and decisions to make, for a ps2 game this one sits right beside a pc on strategy options, moves, different loadout, etc, the gameplay is done awesome, i had a blast playing this game and you get recruits to help you which you can customize as well, this is definently for the strategy player but if you want an awesome srpg with fully customizable mechs tgen this game is for you.
