Hey, I'm a kid of the 80s - I played with GI Joe, listened to Duran Duran, and watched Red Dawn thousands of times. I also, for some time, liked Rush 'N Attack. Released by Konami in 1985 for the NES, the game features a Cold War setting where a Green Beret hero takes on the Soviet Union singlehandedly armed only with a knife.

I never got past the second level, but oh did I try. I was probably too young to handle this game, which is considered by many magazines to be one of the top 100 NES games. In retrospect, I sort of hate this game, but I can imagine that some other people have fond memories.

The name, "Rush 'N Attack," is obviously a bad pun about "Russian Attack." Well - I've heard worse.

You could get your hands on a rocket launcher eventually. It was pretty awesome compared to the knife. Obviously.

I never liked this game.  Even as kids my friend and I thought it was dumb that one guy was going to take on an entire army with just a knife.  We rented this game once on the NES and made it to the second level once.  The Pizza Inn near my house also had the arcade version for a short while.

In other parts of the world, this game is known as Green Beret.  For a while, Konami would call it part of the Contra series, which I don't understand since it's nothing like Contra.  But they also put Scramble as part of the Gradius series even though those two games are barely alike.

yeah, I kinda retroactively hate this game. And it's nothing like Contra!

I've played this on various collections. I think I found it difficult but I still liked it.

I have very clear memories of playing it as a kid.

I think it was out in '87 when I was at college. I missed the whole NES and SNES times.

I was really into the NES but missed the SNES.

Played this one on NES, wasn't a huge fan, though I remember the punny name. There sure were a lot of games inspired by Rambo and Platoon at that time.

Yeah, Rambo, Arnold movies like Commando... it was the 80s alright.
