Good morning Pixlpeeps! It is a breezy 9:15am here in sunny Southern California and I have been awake for about three hours and I figured it was time to update my Quick Hits since I haven’t done one of these in a while so let’s catch up. I wanted to do this on the usual Friday but things got in the way and before I get going and cleaning up I wanted to do this update. Since my Aztecs are on a bye week, I’m thinking about skipping football completely but I kinda watched parts of games yesterday and I’ll probably watch parts of games today. We shall see how I feel about watching on Sunday night because Dallas is at New Orleans.

Chris Watches…

-Big Brother is over, and at first it was a train wreck but it started to get good with all the random evictions. Game wise Jackson played the best game, but the real winner out of the entire show is Nicole. She went from someone who laid low to making moves and keeping herself in the game. Her downfall was listening to Cliff.

-I’m still into the Challenge and the vets are taking each other out instead of keeping with the team format.

-I started watching the PBS series The Roosevelt’s on Netflix. I need to use my Netflix because the folks who wanted to use it haven’t and I’ve been spending $12/month so I need to use it.

Chris Listens To…

-My project from a month ago was to have a dedicated mp3 drive where I keep everything including the stuff I don’t want on my iTunes on my laptop. If you use iTunes it gets incredibly slow once you hit 100k tracks. Anyways my 2TB dedicated mp3 (I actually have mp3, and Apple’s AAC files) is pretty much finished with everything with correct tags (99%, I need to add Album Artist on some CD Rips, and the old time radio shows were a mess.) I’m using Musicbee to run as the music player on the hard drive so I can plug it into any Windows computer and I can listen to tunes. The next project is to buy an external 1TB SSD drive that I can velcro to my travel laptop and that will be home to all the music I want to carry when I go on trips.

Chris Reads…

-I haven’t read/listened to an audiobook in maybe three weeks. I am still reading The Boys, as well as a couple of other random books. I might need to charge my little reader/tablet.

Random

-After this blog entry I need to create a list of all the things I need to do/clean/organize. I have CDs that need to be put away, I have a Lego bin of pieces that need to be sorted, a ton of paper that needs to be sorted, and other fun stuff.

Pickups

Games

-I downloaded some freebie games like Mariokart on iOS as well as a couple of other games that went on sale that I found on Reddit

-Grand Theft Auto San Andreas on Rockstar was free. I played a bit and man I am lost with some controls and the funny part was hitting up to bring up the phone. I forgot this game was set in the 90s so the smart phone wasn’t around for another 10 years. Oops.

Music

-Local thrift store raised their price on CDs from .25 to .50. I think it was because of that guy who went in two times in a week and bought all the good stuff like classic rock, jazz, and some classical. Psst that guy was me. Two separate trips where I spent $8 each time did this.

-I hit gold at my local mom and pop and the last time I was there I bought 15 CDs from their buy 4 get 1 free $1.99 section and bought a ton of Rap CDs. A trip before that I did the same so currently I have close to 100 CDs that need to be sorted sitting on the floor.

Well that’s all I can think of that has been going on. If there’s something that pops up that I forgot (which will happen) I’ll add it to the next one. Anyways I am off. Have a good weekend!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

If you would like a recommendation of something to watch on Netflix, I would like to suggest The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.  I really like it and wrote a little bit about it in my most recent blog.

Thanks for the recomendation, but I'm not a Jim Henson fan, weird right? I think everyone I grew up with are big fans but I just can't get into it. I have heard that this series is really good.

I look through the cds at my local GoodWIll sometimes but I rarely find anything I want.

Yeah it's hit and miss, but when there are times when you can find something good. I should make a trip out there today. Maybe during lunch....

I've been getting clothes at Goodwill lately, but I always give the CDs a check when I'm there.

sometimes I think about playing San Andreas again, maybe on iPad or somewhere else. It's a really cool game... but it does have some annoying missions. Flying the planes was fun though, I loved that.

That Roosevelt documentary is great.

Oh man I forgot about it being on the iPad. I bought it for a plane ride, played a couple of missions and then forgot about it. I should reinstall it there too.

It's interesting. I knew some of the Teddy stuff already but to have all the Roosevelt stuff presented in a series just brings it all to life.
