Good afternoon Pixlpeeps! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving (for you Canadian folks I hope you had a wonderful week). I did something different this year and spent time with the family in Las Vegas. We spent a week in Las Vegas and went to the strip once. Crazy, right? Anyways let’s take a look.

Ok so it wasn’t a full week but Tuesday through Saturday is always fun. Instead of driving the 5 hours we jumped on a flight (actually 2) because there was a layover. It doesn’t matter because renting a car, the insurance, the time sitting in traffic in the crazy weather, it was actually cheaper to go this route and no worries. I sat on two planes that came out to maybe an hour total in the air, and an hour in LAX people watching.

01

I watched some rastlin’ on the little laptop, played some Switch, and listened to some podcasts.

02

Hello McCarran, it’s been a minute. I still think it’s comedy that there are slots inside the airport. There’s also this store

03

The team LA wanted but instead moved to Vegas with their palace of a stadium, and huge practice facility outside of the city (we drove by it).

So we spent a week with the family at their new house and just enjoyed the company, checking out some awesome Hawaiian food, because after all Las Vegas is the 9th Island, and the one time we did go on the strip we went here

04

I swear it’s the best buffet on the strip. After that we went to Red Rock Canyon where I finally got to see snow. We weren’t dressed for walking around so we stopped at various spots, took pictures, and then off to the next area. One side of the park was just chilly with blue skies, and the other side was gray with snow, and I got to do the stuff kids do and touch snow, and make a snowball. There wasn’t enough of the stuff on the ground to make a snowman.

05

Not a bad view, right?

We checked out the shops in Summerlin during Black Friday afternoon, and then just enjoyed the rest of the night. Our last day in Vegas we went to a breaksfast spot in Henderson which surprised also had Hawaiian food along with your regular breakfast items. That morning all the specials involved ube (purple yam). After that it was a trip to an outlet, and then back to the house to rest, pack, and watch that show where Bear Grylls takes celebrities to the outdoors.

06

The strip from McCarran. We hit the lottery and got the TSA Pre Check where it’s basically airport security pre 9/11. If I traveled a lot I would invest in the Pre Check.

We had an hour and a half to kill and I don’t really gamble so I visited the Raider Image and

07

RAIDERRRRRRSSSS!!! (not a Raider fan but I did buy a shirt and two stickers)

Our flight had DirecTV so I watched football

08

While listening to podcasts.

On the second flight that’s even shorter *cough 20 minutes* this was our plane

09

The funny thing was, while waiting for this flight our pilot was sitting next to me playing Texas Hold’em on his phone. Our flight was less than 50% full so it was almost sit anywhere you want.

As for Black Friday Pickups:

Games

From the Nintendo Store I bought Lego DC Villains, and Season Pass. Here’s the funny thing: the Deluxe Edition was $30, good price, BUT if you bought the vanilla version it was $15. The Season Pass was like $7.50. It’s like Steam where if you can actually get a better price if you get them separately. My brother bought UFC 3 awhile back and that’s what we played during down times. I got hooked so when I came home I fired up the PS4 and bought the Deluxe Edition for $15. Since some of the sales don’t end for a couple of days I might pick up another game on the Switch.

Hats

To add to my Hat collection I added some Vegas teams

10

I didn’t like the Vegas Knights hats so I didn’t get one.

That was my trip. Alright folks I am off, have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I went to Vegas about ten or so years ago.  It was interesting.  We stayed at the Excalibur and took a day trip to see the Grand Canyon.  I remember going to the M&M's Store and GameWorks Arcade and we ate at a sushi buffet and an italian buffet.

Vegas has changed a lot in the last couple of years. I like the strip but my last two trips we've avoided it and feels good to check out regular city Las Vegas.

At some point I need to make a trip out to the Grand Canyon. Right now it would be a good time because it's cooler and I might see some snow.

I think Vegas alway changes a lot.  Neat thing about the Grand Canyon is that photos just don't do it justice.

it should be interesting when the Raiders are in Vegas, but I do feel sorry for all the fans in Oakland that love the team beyond measure.

I think the move to Vegas will be good for the Raiders. They get their stadium, a huge practice facility, and they rule the region. Good thing is fans can fly direct to Vegas and for folks in LA it's a couple of hours drive.

Lego DC Villains looks interesting. I'm sure I'll try it sometime. It seems like Vegas is a good place to visit on a holiday.

It's a cute story and it plays a bit with what goes on in the comics. The developers improved getting into replaying levels and finding minikits.

Vegas is always fun, even if you don't gamble (folks like me).

I need to re-do Vegas. Have not been since 2014 and it was not an ideal trip.

Give it another try. It'll probably be even more fun now that they will have two pro teams. I know everyone is on the Knights bandwagon, and when the Raiders show up it's going to be crazy.

Oh, I am mainly interested in food and shows, but if I could get cheap tickets I would not mind a sports outing. I am actually not sure what league the Knights are in, so I'll go mark myself "safe from the bandwagon" on Facebook.

(Looked it up; still a Dallas Stars fan.)
