I was thinking of what I could do with my old phone. I ended up giving it my girlfriend, but next time I upgrade I may use the old one with one of those game controllers. Great idea.

Ok so I am currently on my couch on a Monday night and I thought it would be a good time to type out my thoughts about what I have been playing this past week. I’ve spent some time with my new toy/emulator machine and I can give some thoughts about that. Let’s get started before the commercial ends and it’s back to me yelling out letters on Wheel Of Fortune.
Games I Finished:
Grand Theft Auto V - PC: I finally finished the main storyline which I’ve done a couple of times already but I like the game (remember I am running around with mods in single player) and for the first time I’ve tackled all the side missions. I have finished all but one and I think it’s the serial killer missions where you find the letters all around the island. Good thing the locations are online so I can just teleport to the areas grab them, and then take out the guy when he runs. This mission I’ve played before and when it is all done I’ll start a new game.
Other Games Chris Played:
NBA 2K - Switch: I played my game where the entire team is made up of created Chris and they had a battle against the New Orleans Pelicans. Zion went off on the Chris’ (Denver Nuggets) but they managed to get a 10 point win with some big steals in the final 2 minutes
NCAA Football 14 - PS3: I started season 4 of my Auburn Dynasty. In Season 3 the Tigers got over the hump and won a National Title in convincing fashion over Ohio State. In Season 4 my first big 5 star QB recruit transferred to Tulane after losing his job to my other big 5 star recruit who led them to a National Title. There was a lot of turnover on the roster and many of the defensive players graduated, and my two coordinators took head coaching jobs, but 3 games in facing 3 ranked teams the Auburn Tigers are sitting pretty at 3-0, and ranked 3rd in the nation.
A Week With The IPega Red Knight
So I have had this controller for about a week and I have paired it with an entry level prepaid Android phone, the Canvas Coolpad. The Coolpad has a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 with a 2GB of ram. Stats that don’t break the bank (phone was around $40) but it seems to run regular Android games and the other emulator stuff without any problems. The keys are fine, the D-Pad is a little wonky. It’s not really a crisp movement but more mushy which is fine, but for games that don’t use the joysticks this might be something you have to get used to. The joysticks themselves are a lot better than I was expecting. They move well, they can click for the R/L 3 buttons and so far zero drift. The shoulder buttons 3 out of the 4 have a solid click and respond well. The R2 doesn’t have the solid click, which is odd but doesn’t hinder it.
I tried the Red Knight on my Android phone and for the most part it syncs quickly and needs very little adjustments. I think the only time I needed to map out controls was for the Neo Geo. As for iOS it just didn’t work right. I tried it with Horizon Chase and it was a no go. After that I didn’t really want to give it a spin with my other racing games especially since I wanted it to be connected to an Android device.
As you can see with a phone with a 5.5 inch screen it is similar in size to a Nintendo Switch, but the Switch is thinner.
Overall I am satisfied with the IPega Red Knight. It does it’s job, has decent battery, and I have another option for gaming on the go.
That’s all for now, more later!
-Chris
