Papa Y Yo (Papa and Me) is a game by a Latino game designer, and it was released at the sort of beginning of "art" games that feature traditional design with emotional stories inspired by real life experiences. It's about a young boy and his abusive, alcoholic father, and features the boy traversing an abstract world while he flees from a giant monster symbolizes his father.

Like a lot of the early games in this genre, it has its flaws, and doesn't have the most airtight mechanics. But emotionally, it rings true and is an affecting experience.

I reviewed it for Pixlbit back in the day, playing it on PC, but I can't seem to find the link now.

I enjoyed it though.

Doh,  but Papa y Yo is the real title I think. Isn't "y" in Spanish "and"?

Oh wait, it's "Papo" too.

It sounds like an interesting game but the plot is a little heavy for me (odd coming from someone who sinks hours into GTA). While the story is heavy I do like how the developer is expressing themselves and this story through game and what I'm assuming how a child views the situation.

It's pretty interesting, and the abstract nature makes it less heavy than something more realistic. But it's a little rough around the edges.

I passed on reviewing this one.  Didn't seem like a good fit for me.

yeah, you probably wouldn't like it. It's really clever in some places though.

I've heard a lot about this game. I hope to play it one day.

It's interesting for sure.

I like games that deal with themes like this and I loved What's Left of Edith Finch, so this sounds like something I'd like, rough edges and all.

It's definitely unique.
