BaD Games I Gotta Finish - Final Fantasy 12

Final Fantasy 12 is ANOTHER game that I have played up to the end three or four times, and still have yet to beat it. I don't know why... every time I get up to that last airship, I just tell myself I'm done. Maybe it's because I don't want to the game to end, so I'd rather restart the game again.

This game came out when I was living in Brooklyn. I remember I would get stoned and play it, and my roommate, who didn't know a lot about video games was like, "What are you DOING in this game? It looks like you're not doing ANYTHING!"

Maybe that's true. Either way, I love this game deeply. I've started a new game on the Switch version, and am about seven hours into it right now... I've been thinking of taking a break from DQ and playing this for a while, and maybe, just maybe, finally finishing it....

I haven't finished it either. It's coming to Xbox Game Pass sometime this year so I'll try again then. It's a great game and I love the battle system but there's so much to do.

I always associate this game with an anecdote of friend of mine told me back when the PS3 came out: The initial PS3 model was backwards compatible with PS2 games but it was faulty. There was also reported incidents that the save files would be accidentally wiped. My friend put 80 hours into FF12 and booted it up one day only to find that the system had erased the save file(s) for some reason. He wasn't happy.

The only thing I know about FF12 is that i think there is a character who has bunny ears and looks kind of cool. I wonder if she has a carrot sword, or instead of the dragoon command "Jump" she uses "Hop." That would be funny.

The first half of the game is far better than the last third. You're not missing anything outside of access to higher level grinding areas to level up for the toughest hunts

I got a few hours into it on PS2. The opening cut scene was amazing to me at the time. I had trouble with the battle system, but I'm going to give it another try.

I need to play the Final Fantasy games past VII. I have XII for the PS2 but I'd prefer to get the recent remaster, preferably for Switch.

I almost completed this in the HD version. The only things I really lacked were Yiazmat and Omega Mk. XII, the two superbosses. I had every other hunt and all the Espers. In Trial Mode I think i made it to low 80s, then the difficulty ramped up exponentially.
