You sure like yakuza. It's fun to be in love with a game series.
yeah, sonic sounds lame.

Yeah, sorry, I just don't see why this thing is getting good reviews. It's exactly what the first batch of trailers made it look like, just with a better CGI look for Sonic. Don't get me wrong, I appreciated the references (I thought it was great Sanic made an appearance) and the end credits sequence is great. Otherwise though, the jokes didn't land for me, the plot was bland and I wasn't as impressed by Jim Carey as others have been. And he was my favorite celebrity when I was young for exactly the kind of character he plays here!
However, if you're taking into account it's a kid's movie, it's fine. I just expected more after the positive Rotten Tomatoes score and a bunch of YouTube talking heads saying "it's actually good!" I'd say it's just average kid's movie fare. I realize the title of this blog say's it's bad, but that is just a reference to the old Sonic PSAs.
We didn't stay after the credits, but I kinda guessed who would show up and I was right when I looked it up.
If you liked the movie, I get it and I'm happy you enjoyed it. It just was not my jam, sadly. I enjoyed Birds of Prey a lot more.
In actual video game gaming news, I did buy my physical copy of the Yakuza Remastered Collection. I already have the games digitially, beat 3 and am pretty far in 4, and have yet to download 5. I just bought the physical copy cause I like the box set as a collector's item and I will support the series in any way I can. Plus, I get a PS3 case for a system I never owned.
I'm still debating whether I want to send Resident Evil 2 back and buy it later or just beat my rental copy.
Whelp, that's all I got.
I definitely overlook its flaws and spend too much time with it, so "in love" might be a good way of putting it.
And the Sonic movie will definitely please die hard fans and was charming enough. I just am not a die hard enough fan to get much out of it. People seem to be really enjoying it though, and I'm not trying to take that away. Just not my thing.
I told you the movie was bad! I'm glad I only paid five bucks to see it. And the way things turned out, I actually didn't have to pay any money at all.
I will say one good thing about the Sonic movie, though. Well, besides the end credit scene. There were no deaths or cursing, so you can take the family to see it. Which is what I'm sure SEGA wanted, since Sonic is their family title and all. But you don't see as many family movies anymore, so I guess that's a good thing about this movie.
Oh yeah, it definitely gives its audience what they want. I have no ill will toward it, I just regret paying more than $5. lol
And I remembered you talking about the character who shows up after the credits more than you saying it was bad ... I should have listened/read better.
The people who did go for him seemed to enjoy it. I definitely think he plays the role well, it's just the jokes didn't really land with me outside a couple soft chuckles.
Again, I can see what people like about the movie, but as someone whose reaction to the first trailer was more "that looks like a Smurfs or Alvin/Chipmunks movie with Sonic than a so-bad-i'ts-good thing" I feel I was correct the first time.
I became a lot more interested after the redesign (better trailer imo) and good reviews came pouring in, but the actual plot and characters are pretty much what the first trailer promised.
