Omerta city of gangsters is starting to become one of my favorite games and the reasoning behind Kalypso Media. The makers of Tropico and another one of my favorites Port Royale 3, and its the way they hook you on these games with a city building, economic managing, strategy battles, and they combine it so smoothly you cant tell your playing a combination of all of them. The in game currency consist of two kinds of money theres clean money which is money made legit and then theres dirty money which is earned illegally and you can turn dirty money into clean money by having someone launder it for you etc.
So in case your wondering if its a game youwill like im sure theres something here for everyone and its a game you will eitherlove or hate and i absolutely love it, yesterday or wait friday they released a scenerio add on for it which i snagged up quickly, and pretty much have been playing it all saturday and all sunday and im still having a blast, you are a single gangster at the beginning of the game, and its the 1920s prohabition period and its up to you to bring your Italian background and influence Antlantic City, the game has a world map with each area of the world which is Antlantic city has different districts from which your scenerios derive from and as you progress you unlock more scenerios which you can do in any order you choose.
Again this may or may not be for you, if your familiar with Kalypsos types of games then you may have an idea how it works, you have a gang that you slowly build up and you raise there levels which you choose perks for your gangsters, whether it is more hit points, long range attacks etc and if you dont like the way he is setup then you have the option to reset and start over, and by buying guns in the game you can equip your gangsters with anything from pistols, rifles, machine guns a bat, brass knuckles and the list goes on.
And thats just the beginning, you rent houses or buildings and set them up as a speakeasy another name for a tavern or warehouses or hideouts well the list goes on, then you manage the how much booze your producing and how much your selling it for and who your selling it to, while at the same time keeping the law off of you or other gangsters, and then when its time for battle you pick who is going in and what there using , the battle system is a lot like xcom enemy unknown just not as deep the movement is the same as is a percentage on screen on your chances of success and you can heal, melee fight etc, hell on my last scenerio i was fighting the KKK, the graphics look very good for the kind of game this is, the voice acting is done very well, and the classic 20s jazz music fits the time period perfectly.
I very much enjoyed this game and after beating the campaign, theres a sandbox mode to keep the replay value high, and Kalypso is bringing alot of updates for improvements and even bringing an online mode, and alot more dlc, this game has a kind of cult following and is an awesome game that you must experience.
