In which Friday finally feels like Fridays should

One of the benefits of working for a university is when spring break period approaches. Activity on the campus dies down so detail cleaning or special projects can be completed. The Friday of this period also is recognized as an observed holiday for staff. Since the week started, all campus buildings were put on lockdown due to safety measures regarding COVID-19 so only essential personnel are allowed. This of course includes custodians. I have vacation days but I'm bad about using them as much so to wake up on a Friday in which I don't have to go anywhere feels perfect.

I hope everyone here is being careful and is not sick. I hope you're still employed and if you're not I hope you get work soon or have funds to survive on until that becomes a possibility.

After I got home last night, I got out of my work clothes, washed up and proceeded to do some gaming for a few hours. I'm playing more Overwatch recently due to the annual Archives period where loot boxes will give out exclusive cosmetic items. Brigitte is one of my favorite characters to play and I'm trying to get an emote where she cuddles with her big cat. If a loot box doesn't drop it, I'll have to save up 3,000 in in-game currency to purchase it. I'm holding off on that option while the promotion lasts. Does anyone else here play Overwatch?

Still playing Red Dead Online as well. There's an xp boost for the moonshiner role this week so I'm doing as many moonshining missions to boost my rank and earn money. I've already earned enough to add a bar and a band for my shack. I'm also working on some upgrades for my small camp, like upgrades to my tent or the traders wagon.

When I'm not gaming, I'm usually channel surfing and adding titles to my Watch Later playlist, trying to make an effort to catch up on movies or shows I've missed out on or titles I haven't seen before. For shits and giggles, I queued up Delta Force 2 via Starz Encore and hooh boy, that was a mistake and a waste of time. There's a lot of Chuck Norris movies on that channel. I added Firewalker (the Indiana Jones ripoff he did with Louis Gossett) to the queue, remembering that I loved it as a kid. I had shitty taste as a kid...

Right now, I'm listening to a prog rock station on Pandora and doing laundry. Will probably play something later. Continue to be safe and stay an excellent community!

I watched a lot of Chuck Norris movies when I as a kid. There are some really bad ones. I remember one tv station would have marathons of his movies and they would call it "Prime Chuck."

How did someone that lacking in personality or acting chops ever become a movie star?

I don't know, ha ha. He has zero charisma. But he's Chuck.

I'm still employed and doing well.  I'm happy to work but also scared.

Good to know. Depending on what you do for a job, it can probably be scary but it feels like you're rolling the dice every time you go out into the world, now more than usual.

Working from home full-time now and honestly a fan, but not exactly sure about the future and that makes me anxious.

Hope you are staying safe as well and glad you are still employed.

Still employed. Switched from grocery store to park just in time. The State of Maine just shut down ten of the parks in my region, we're one of only four remaining open. Fingers crossed people learn from the beach parks being closed, but I doubt it.

I'm being good and staying home when I'm not at work, switched from grocery shopping daily to once or twice a week, and have been staying away from my mom's house. She has mild to moderate emphysema and her housemate is in renal failure and on home dialysis. Been playing the original Ratchet and Clank games because they make me happy. Also been watching a lot of old movies - pre-1960 old movies. Lots of silents and stuff from the 1930s and 40s. Other than that, I have no life.

Here's to hoping you can keep working throughout this mess, however long it takes.

I dig that you watch older films. One of my favorite channels is Turner Classic Movies and I'll have that one on usually even if its just background noise.

I'm not working, but being paid because it's a government job. It's not full time yet though so it's still not enough. I'm one step away from a hobbo career. At least I'll be able to play my guitar day and night as I ride a box car. I should change my name, Boxcar John. That's about right.

I've been making some prog rock mixes to listen to in my car. I just dump as many albums as I have on my hard drive onto CDs. I have Pandora though, so maybe I'll try that sometime. My only issue with Pandora though is they tend to play a lot of the hits, which I'm tired of. I like album tracks I seldom hear, which is why I make my own mixes.
