Change of Plans

Well, a couple weeks ago I posted that my computer died and I was going to buy a gaming PC. Change of plans. I got a new Macbook, mostly for writing... I've been writing on my iPad for a while, but the Word app has been acting up and messing up some files I've saved, and I've lost some work. I decided I needed to get something rock solid for writing, so here we are.

It's really nice, and is very pleasurable to write on. After using the iPad for so long, the 13" screen is mammoth. I got the midrange model, which is more than enough power for me.

I'll still be able to play some games on it, but not demanding ones. I've already installed Steam and Pillars of Eternity and Stellaris which I'm going to try later. I think I'm more attuned to computer games like that than action games these days anyway.

Sometimes I think maybe I should buy an Apple computer. I don't always have the best luck with more demanding games on other hardware anyway, and I mostly just need the Adobe Suite.

They're expensive, but really nice. Yeah, it's better to have a console. Less problems.

Maybe I will get to a point where I notice things PC gamers always talk about, and it could just be because my PC is not powerful enough for me to notice, but frame rate and graphical changes from console to PC are nigh imperceptible to me.

Load times I notice, but not really those other things.

It's nice playing some games with a mouse, but like you said it's mostly a graphical improvement. The games that are exclusive to PCs like strategy games and simulators and what not usually work on low end PCs or macs anyway. I mean, I would still love a gaming pc, but is not worth the expense to me.

Graphics aren't the be-all and end-all they used to be, either. We've reached a point where artistry counts for as much as engineering, and a lot of games, even on PC, don't really stress an integrated graphics chip, let alone a high-end graphics card. Switch is my primary gaming system these days.

I thought about building a gaming PC. Then I thought that most of the games I might play on it were games I could play on PS4 or even Switch anyway, only without a lot of stuff that won't be coming to PC. And again, as far as everything else I need a computer for, my Mac blows away every Windows PC I've ever owned, and my Mac isn't even the latest model.

That looks like my friend's laptop. He was all about Apple products. I'd like one too, but I will probably get another Dell on sale like that last two times because they're like half the price.

I got burned on my last couple pc laptop buys. I decided to do something different. I've had macs before and really liked them.

They seem to be reliable, that's for sure.

I switched over to Mac last year. I don't care if I never see Windows again, LOL. I prefer gaming on consoles anyway, so I don't care that tne Mac doesn't support a lot of games.

Yeah, pc gaming has its advantages but also a lot of disadvantages. Loving this Mac.
