Yesterday around lunch I decided to try KFC’s Kentucky Fried Wings. Now I liked their old hot wings because if they cooked it right it was a good mix of flavor, heat, and not being burnt (sometimes their wings would be mummified). Now don’t get me wrong, I like the local KFC. Their service is spotty, a little slow, but the people are nice, and they will try and make things right. I placed an order for their new wings unsauced because who wants fried wings drenched in sauce when you can have the little cups to pour over them? Anyways I signed up for DoorDash, put my order in and then waited. Since the KFC is literally less than a mile away (remember my Cal Ripken like streak of not driving or wearing shoes?), add to that free delivery, and it was a no brainer. Well 30 minutes later I received my food.
My wings were covered in their honey BBQ sauce (remember the service is spotty), the DoorDash driver was wearing a KFC shirt which means she works at my KFC, and it is a pretty good racket to get out of the restaurant for a couple of minutes, drop off food, and earned a tip without ever talking to the customer. The wings were ok, it’s still the same wings but covered in sauce, and for the price I would stick to WingStop for a couple of dollars more. If I would rate the wings based on the wing spots here withing a 10 mile radius it would be:
WinCo (the local grocery store) - same amount of wings, half the price, and their salt & vinegar wings are really good.
WingStop - I really like being able to order all flats.
Pizza Hut - Surprisingly not bad
KFC - You would think a place that serves chicken would be higher
Domino’s - You’re better off buying frozen wings and cooking them yourself
(Small town problems. Now if we were talking Mexican Food, we easily have some of the best spots in the state)
There is a mom & pop BBQ spot I haven’t tried but they are on the DoorDash list so I might give them a try next week if I decide to give another go at eating fast food. Alright Pixlpeeps have a good one and WASH YOUR HANDS!
That’s all for now,more tomorrow!
