Not Bad At All - Republic Commando

Republic Commando is a pretty good Star Wars game in a sea of licensed crap. I played it on the original Xbox, and I enjoyed it - I thought it was a good idea, and while it's not big budget and gets a little repetitive towards the end, I think it's a decent game.

It's a squad-based shooter, meaning you have squad-mates with different attributes that you order around. It's a fun genre, but there aren't a ton of games like it... I recall the old Rainbow Six games, and Brothers in Arms, and to a lesser extent the Mass Effect games. But it's a fun genre that I enjoy that can be pretty tactical sometimes.

I'm not going to argue the merits or problems with the Prequel trilogy here, but I think we can all agree there were some pretty crappy games to come out of that period. But a few, like Pod Racer and Republic Commando are pretty good.

I miss having mid-range budget games. I didn't even know they were a thing until I realized we mostly just have expansive AAA games or indies years later.

yeah, the industry is healthier when there are more mid-range games. I think the heyday of them was the PSONE/PS2 era.

One of the very first E3's I went to in LA, they were showing off the new Pod Racer game. R2-D2 was even at the press conference!

One crappy prequel trilogy Star Wars game that I kind of like is Super Bombad Racing.

My claim to fame is that I've met Billy Dee Williams, who played Lando, in person.

I've never played Super Bombad Racing.

Billy Dee Williams is definitely awesome. Got to respect a man who can get away with wearing a cape casually!

I liked Republic Commando too. I remember always losing my copy and having to go hunt down another one. I think I have it digitally now, though. I'm going to have to check now.
