Quick Hits: Adventures With DoorDash & Two New-ish CDs

It’s been awhile since I have done one of these but welcome back to Quick Hits with Chris! Yes this is where I ramble on about nothing really, just stuff I’ve watched, stuff I’ve read, and any other some what interesting things that are happening here. Let’s get started!

Chris Watches…

Big Brother - CBS: It’s back and it’s All-Stars…well the All-Stars that passed their physical. The first episode was on Wednesday and I signed up for a free month of CBS All Access so I can watch the live feeds. The feeds aren’t that exciting right now, but hopefully soon someone is going to piss someone off to the point where they have a fight.

The Go-Go’s - Showtime: I love The Go-Go’s and this was a documentary about their run as a band. It was fun to watch and see how they became a band, changed from a punk band to a New Wave band that a short run but damn it was good.

The Cruise - YouTube: I don’t know how I found this reality show but it is basically what happens on a cruise ship in the Baltic. It follows a handful of people, sometimes shows the guests, but its usually just day to day operations. Its interesting, and only 20 minutes an episode.

Last Chance U: Laney College - Netflix: I love this series. It’s basically JuCo football and it follows five kids. Watching it I don’t get why kids have problems with class. Class seems extremely easy, just show up, put in minimum effort and get a passing grade. What bothers me is one teacher calls her athletes pampered puss*es. That teacher was easily the worst thing about the show. I get that a lot of the kids that go there don’t have the same opportunities but to put down one group to raise another is just pure garbage.

Adventures With Door Dash:

So a couple of days ago I decided to splurge and get WingStop delivered because it was a thousand degrees outside. I have the info on my order on how to get to where I live, how to get inside the neighborhood, and from there you can find your way inside. Well my driver didn’t speak English, I didn’t speak Spanish and he was lost. This went on for 10 minutes so I called WingStop and they said to call DoorDash. This is where it gets fun. DoorDash said they see my account, and what store I got my order from. I agreed and then he said he couldn’t refund my money because they have no record of the transaction. I said you have my info, you know what store, and you sent out a Dasher to deliver my food is that correct? He said yeah and then I said than you have my info for my order and he said yeah. I then said “so you do have my order so you can give me my money back.” Guy started to backtrack and when I pointed it out, he hung up on me.

I called WingStop, told them what happened and they said they would refund my money and put in a report. Five minutes later Dasher showed up, apologetic, and delivered my food. Me and the Dasher are good at this point. I called WingStop and they canceled the report but I wasn’t done yet so I called DoorDash back and got a woman. I explained to her my situation and how I am disappointed with their service. Five minutes later I get a call from DoorDash and it’s her manager. I explained the whole situation, and I wasn’t frustrated with the driver I was frustrated by their agents. She wanted to write a report and wanted the name of the driver. I said the driver resolved the issue so I have no problems with them and she got angry and said “I NEED TO HAVE HIS NAME IN MY REPORT.” I said why are you getting angry? She then hangs up on me.

Yeah DoorDash customer service is hot garbage. Their dashers hustle, the call center is trash.

Pickups:

I bought some CDs over a week ago on eBay for a total of $11 and they arrived late last night. No knock on my door. I happened to go outside looked down and spotted my package. Thanks USPS. At least you hid it away from street view.

I added Jerry Reed’s Greatest Hits, and Rob Zombie’s Hellbilly Deluxe to the library because of these two songs

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. Have a good weekend!

-Chris

I must just be the luckiest man on Earth when it comes to DoorDash. The only time my order was messed up either the driver or the store immediately sent a report in to send another dasher to get my side items (thank you Nijiya) missing from my teriyaki beef meal.

Meanwhile, my roommate has had to just go pick up his food from a place not 10 minutes from us because the dasher apparently couldn't make up his mind if he wanted to make the delivery or not, a friend who lives in Fort Worth had a very similar situation to you where he never got the chips from a Mexican restaurant he was specifically excited for and they kept telling him if he didn't have an account (guest checkout from DoorDash I guess) they couldn't do anything and the list goes on.

Worst I've ever experienced is an order arriving later than listed.

Yeah usually DoorDash is pretty good and our guy did find the spot but it was that snowball of the language and then rudeness of the call center that really bothered me. Once it cools down a bit I will probably make the drive to WingStop myself to pick up my order.

I learned GoGo's We Got the Beat once for bass way back.

Dragula video has some interesting sets the remind me of Pee Wee's Playhouse, which Rob Zombie apparently did some work with before music.

That Trans Am is hot. I watched those Smokey and the Bandit movies back in the day. Fun stuff.

Wait Rob Zombie worked on Pee Wee's Playhouse sets? Throw in Laurence Fishburn and that is an interesting cast of characters on that show.

Those were fun movies. The crazy thing was that my mom used to own the same car model so I thought she could be the Bandit.

Confirmed, he was a production assitant on Pee Wee's Playhouse in '86. His music videos also see to be inspired by German Expressionist films like The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, which is a favorite of mine.

Nothing says 1977 like a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.

I use Uber Eats for delivery in Phoenix. When I lived in Baltimore, I used GrubHub. Never tried DoorDash.

I keep getting Uber Eats ads from the Uber app. I would try the other services but they seem to cost more than DoorDash.

yay, Quick Hits!

I've never used door dash. We pick things up instead of delivery, kind of on principle. Don't ask me why, that's just how I was raised. Laughing

I get you, I was in that camp too but then the whole stay at home thing happened and I didn't want to go outside but after a couple of months I broke down and gave them a try.
