Dino Crisis is a Capcom survival horror game featuring dinosaurs running amok. It was developed by Shinji Mikami and the same team that made Resident Evil. The games are very similar, with zombies being swapped out with carnivorous lizards. But while early RE games featured prerendered backgrounds, Dino Crisis is made up of 3D environments. While not as pretty, it makes the game a bit more interactive. In addition, while Resident Evil has braindead opponents (well... they're zombies!), Dino Crisis's dinosaurs are pretty smart, though not as smart as Mikami originally intended.

Survival horror and dinosaurs? What could go wrong? Not much, apparently. The game was generally well received and was a big hit, spawning multiple sequels including a light gun game and a middling Original Xbox game. The franchise is dormant now, but you never know....

I've only played this when I had it for my hacked PSP. I believe I bought it as a PSONE classic, but I haven't touched it. While the 3D environments were groundbreaking at the time, they're pretty ugly now. Also, if you think the early Resident Evils are campy, Dino Crisis makes them look like Oscar-winning movies.

I think it's a great idea for a game though. This could definitely be remade with great success.

I've always wanted to try Dino Crisis, but since survival horror games really aren't my thing, it's REALLY low on my priority list.  The main character lady with the red hair looks cool, though.

Speaking of Capcom, I just got a press release from them that they announced two new games: Ghosts N Goblins Resurrection and Capcom Arcade Stadium.

Capcom is still one of my favorite game companies.  They have such awesome character designs, too.  You know, if Sony and/or Microsoft want me to buy their PS5 and new Xbox systems, all they'd have to do is convince Capcom to release Mega Man Legends 3 on them!

I'd like to give it another shot sometimes.

I could never get very far in the old Ghosts n Goblins games, but I played Ghouls N Ghosts on the Genesis endlessly. I wouldn't mind trying the new game.

You know, I don't even like playing the Ghosts N Goblins games that much, but for some reason, I get excited when a new game in the franchise comes out!  I like the fact that the artist who does the characters for the games also does the cover art for Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu.  He also did the art work for the spinoff series Maximo.  One cool thing about Maximo is I know one of the guys who helped develop it.  He's one of my Facebook friends and also worked on Pac-Man World.  I've kept in contact with him since my newspaper days!  He designs board games now.

I saw someone on Twitter say, "Kirby should just eat PAC-Man." Laughing

It can happen in Smash Bros.

I'm sure I tried Dino Crisis way back when. I don't remember anything about it now though. Seems cool. I would normally look for it next time I got to the flea market for video game finds, but, alas, no more of that. Frown

yeah, those days are over, I guess. Now all the professionals pick the flea markets clean and sell the games for more cash on ebay.

It's all about eBay now. I get my eBay savvy friend to sell my stuff there and then I buy stuff there with the proceeds. The deals aren't as great as they once were, but you can find some acceptable deals.
