It's good to be BaD

Hello everyone how are you?

It's that time of year again. Yes, BaD (Blog a Day) is upon us once again. I'm sure you remember last year I posted my Top 30 Games of the Decade and how I mentioned that I will stop writing? Well plans change I suppose. When I was compilling the master game list last year, there were some games that I loved as well and it did kinda pain me to leave them out. This is precisely why I tend to not do a definitive top game's list for that reason, I just love too may games. I can list you a top 10 games per platform maybe, but not a top 10 overall. Also last year I got some time with games that released between 2010-2019 that I missed out on and a good number of those games would have actually made it on my top 30 that I made last year.

As I played through these games I thought about doing another list of games. I wasn't so sure since I kinda didn't want to write anymore. I mentioned it on twitter to get some thoughts on my idea but no one that I know talks to me there anymore even though I've seen them talk to other people there. Maybe I'm not considered a friend anymore... So I said to hell with it and decided to do another list. So introducing...

Captain N's Games of the Decade:

                    Expansion Pass

People love expansion passes right? Love them or hate them, they aren't going anywhere anytime soon and their value to you depends on the content you are getting. "So Captain N, what's included in this expansion pass? How will it work? Last year was a Leap Year, we had 29 days but you ended up doing 30 games, how will it work this year? How much will it cost us?"

All good questions my hypothetical reader. Like last year, this list of games will work the same. The games in question would had to have been released between 2010-2019 regardless on the platform they released on, that same rule still applies. No more than 2-3 games per series if any, not including any spin-off games. Again I will be counting the North American release date, so if it released in Japan in 2009 but we got said game in 2010, I will be counting the latter date, if that applies to any of the games.

I will also count remakes as long as the game was remade from the ground up, so if the original game released in the 90's and was later remade between 2010-2019 then I'll allow it. Remasters, Rereleases, and ports may or may not count so something like the Super Mario 3D All-Stars Collection wouldn't count. If a game was released in 2010 and was rereleased, ported, or remastered in 2019 or any year between 2010-2019 I may count it but it would depend on if it adds anything of value and extra content or if said game was much better than the original release in every way possible. So unfortunately a game like Valkyria Chronicles Remastered, as amazing as it is wouldn't count since it's technically a game that originally released in the 2000-2009 decade.

The rules are pretty much the same as last year and like last year, it will consist of games I have personally played, and the impact that they had on me. Also, I will count a game even if I haven't finished it but as long as I have played enough of said game. Not everyone has enough time to play through games these days, especially if the games are really long. I might need to bend the rules or not depending on the game. I will also try to use my own screenshots if possible, since older platforms didn't have a screenshot function or I was an idiot and forgot to take my own during my playthrough of a game. As a warning, there will be music playing during these posts, so adjust your volume accordingly.

And while I could have done only 28 games I have decided to do 30 games instead. So you are getting 2 freebies here. Some choices for games will be expected and some won't be. And no, my expansion pass won't cost you a thing, outside of your time reading them of course. So in short, it's free. Now that's some value I suppose. I can't promise I'll release them in time for the actual date that they are meant to be posted, since it's a ton of writing I have to do but I will do my best. I'll also be participating in 4 in February also yeah, I'm going to be busy. That and hopefully I'll have maybe 1 or 2 regular BaD blogs. We'll see. I hope the content in my pass is diverse enough and worth it though, but hopefully you enjoy reading through them.

Well that's all the time I have for this. I'll be seeing you, take care my fellow BaD guys and remember...
