Crackdown 3 was a blast.
I saw a big sale on Forza Motorsport last weekend and I almost went for it, but I really enjoy the Horizon series much more.

Good morning Pixlpeeps! I am currently on my second little pack of Pringles as my healthy breakfast. I’ve been eating a lot of potato chips for over the past week because last week was the first time that potatoes have tasted normal to me since before I got sick in December. Anyways it is Monday and I’ve been trying to keep with my regular schedule (or close to it) here is what I’ve been playing.
First Finished Game Of 2021:
Crackdown 3 - XBox Game Pass PC: I believe I took down the final boss on Friday morning before I got out of bed and I had my laptop, the funky controller that likes to drift, and listening to sports talk radio. The final boss was more of the same when it came to combat, where you take your shots at the bad guy, the henchmen show up so you take them down, go find an ammo refill spot, and then start all over. I’m not saying it’s bad thing but you figure out the rhythm and you should be good. The game itself is basically what you’d expect if you played the previous game except I thought there was a lot off overacting in the beginning.
The one thing that I didn’t really use was driving around. Once you have enough agility orbs collected you can jump around like a superhero and once you get the glider function you can glide around. Driving wasn’t useful to me, kind of like how it wasn’t really useful in Saints Row 4. I spent a lot of time just looking for orbs, trying to get my stats up to where taking over a detention center wasn’t too tough.
Crackdown 3 is mindless fun. The story is your typical “bad people run city, give the city back to the people”and after I took down the bosses I lost interest in trying to finish off any of the side missions. It’s not a deep game, but at the same time it’s not something that you could lose interest in. I think it hits the sweet spot of enjoyable but doesn’t overstay it’s welcome, if that makes sense.
Uninstalled:
Forza Motorsport 7 - XBox Game Pass PC: Don’t get me wrong this is a fine game with a lot of cars and features to keep you busy, but right now it just wasn’t for me. I wanted to race but I didn’t want to race on tracks, I wanted something more open world and at times I would lose interest in the races.
Currently Playing:
Forza Horizon 4 - XBox Game Pass PC: This is the racing I want to play. Open world, pick any race I want, look for barns (I’m going to Google them for my next play), and taking part in races that are far shorter than Motorsport.
Super Luck’s Tale - XBox Game Pass PC: The images kind of reminded me of every platformer on the the original Playstation, meets a little bit of the Super Mario games on the DS but not as smooth. Typical 3D-ish world, looking for coins, and letters to spell something for a bonus. You’re a fox who wants to be a hero and it’s time for you to be a hero. It’s cute and something fun to play when I’m not living the Fast and Furious life in the XBox Universe.
Highwind - iOS: Highwind is a take on a shooter where the ship in most of the game can’t move. It’s a stationary ship that looks like a paper airplane and you shoot up at the bad guy (think Galaga). Tap one side of the screen and you shoot, tap the other side and it’s shield. Each level is random so you’ll have anything from objects that deflect your shots, a kind of portal like where it absorbs your shot and the objects higher up on the screen shoot your shots, and things that slow down/speed up shots for you and the baddies depending on which direction its facing. At the end of the stage after you defeat a “boss” (it’s not much different than the regular baddies) you have an end of stage where your ship can now move and you try and avoid obstacles, and collect coins. At the end of the stage you can spend your coins on more increased ammo, increased shield, or increased health.
Once your game is over, all the XP or points you earned is added to your lifetime total and hitting certain levels unlocks new ships with different specifications. I think this game is a couple of bucks and I think it’s worth it.
Those are the games I’ve been playing. I’ve been holding off on Madden because I want to redo the Lions jerseys again. I’m thinking something that could be throwback but have touches of being modern. I just haven’t had the desire to actually start planning out the uniform. I have ideas, and I already picked out the font, the next step is getting started.
Alright Pixlpeeps, it’s been fun.
That’s all for now, more later!

That game was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed just running up to the bad guy and punching them. I did this so much that I really didn't need to use the reload spots because I would do that move where you jump and hit the ground. It took everyone out.
Horizon has a lot more to do that isn't racing. Driving around looking for photo spots, drifting, taking out walls, and sometimes I like trying to wreck the car.
I liked co-op in Crackdown 3 a lot. My buddy and I did so many crazy things. We'd see how fast we could complete the entire game in one session.
I've been fooling with the difficulty settings in Forza Horizon 4. You can set it so that when your car takes damage it affects its performance. I recently turned the difficulty up just one notch because I find I can control the car better. There are a lot of auto-correct things going on with the default setting. I also don't see the guild lines now except when I hit a turn too fast.
I really liked Super Lucky's Tale. It wasn't the best 3-D platformer, but it put a smile on my face and games don't do that for me as much as they used to. Here's my review:
