Sonys psp variants are on respirators waiting for someone to pull the plug and with Nintendo not having a flagship system it relys on its handhelds to pay the bills and theres no way sony can compete with anything they have out now anyways.
Soul Sacrifice Is Godlike; The Vita's Prospects Aren't

Soul Sacrifice is one of the best games I've played this entire generation.
I've been completely obsessed. I've already maxed out my character level-wise (60/40 Dark Arm IV) and beaten the main campaign; now, I'm just trying to grind my way through the Avalon Pacts while getting the best Offerings/Sigils. It's easily the best game I've played on the Vita yet, and has validated my investment in the handheld in a way nothing else I've bought for it has. I hear that Keiji Inafune is already working on a sequel, which I'm thrilled to hear about.
While I'm having a blast with the game, Sony's not having as much fun with their floundering handheld.
They recently released their financial results, both for Q4 and the entirety of FY 2012. They stated that they only sold 7 million handheld units (Vita+PSP combined) globally. That's more than terrible enough, but the real shocker is their projection this year; they actually expect that number to go DOWN to 5 million handhelds between now and May of next year globally. This despite the handheld selling much better in Japan since the price was cut, and a Western price-cut in that timeframe all but inevitable.
I already did a previous blog about Sony not attacking the issue as hungrily as they should be; if those are the best sales they're expecting even with the PSP's sales lumped in, then I can understand why. The 3DS, in comparison, sold well over 5 million units last year in Japan alone. There's little incentive for Sony itself to pump money into propping it up with those numbers, let alone third parties.
It's on track to sell at Gamecube-levels at this point--a far cry from the 76 million+ of it's predecessor. I don't see Sony supporting it beyond 2015 at most if this keeps up.
