So in the past week, I have beaten Tales of Vesperia and Ratchet and Clank. Both of these games were very good.
I started playing Vesperia back on the Xbox 360. But I never finished it. I got very far though. When it came out for the Switch, I picked it up, but didn't play it for a while. About a month ago I started it again. I had forgotten how good the storytelling and dialogue scenes are in Tales games. There's a lot of nuance, and the people who write it have a great respect for the characters. The game looks great, too - cel-shaded games always age better than "realistic" looking games. The end was a little drawn out, but I made it through it, and I was deeply satisfied by the game.
I also beat Ratchet and Clank the other night. I really enjoyed it, and I have never played a Ratchet and Clank game before; however, Tamson told me the original was better than this reboot. The combat is really fun, and the exploration is addictive. I especially like the freedom the jetpack provides. Some of the Clank puzzles were tough, but I never had to resort to a walkthrough. And while Tamson scolded me for not getting the RYNO, the best weapon in the game, I really enjoyed playing this, and I'm excited for the PS5 game.
Now I'm trying to finish Final Fantasy XV, which is a game which annoys me to no end. But I'm gonna finish it, dammit.
I never finished Tales of Vesperia. Just got too long and meandering. My favorite characters in it were Repede and Judith. Maybe someday you can play my favorite Tales game: Tales of Legendia. It's only on the PS2, though. My favorite character in that was Grune. The music in it was so good, as it was done by my favorite game composer: Go Shiina.
The orginal Ratchet and Clank is good, but I really like the two PS2 sequels that came after it. They improved so much!
Yeah, it's a little drawn out at the end. I was ready for it to be over. That being said, I found it to be a deeply satisfying game on many levels. I'm actually thinking of digging out my PS2 slim, so maybe I'll check out Legendia someday.
I really enjoyed Ratchet and Clank. I haven't played a game like that in a very long time.
I've always meant to go back to the first three Ratchet & Clank games and beat them. I've only dabbled in them so far. I didn't know there was a PS5 R&C coming. I'll have to think about getting the new system then.
I've started Vesperia. I'm starting to commit to games now so if I start it this time, I'm going to finish it.
Vesperia is definitely a commitment. But it's a great game.
So you died while playing the T2 arcade game from the 1990s?
Vesperia is amazing, and I've grown to appreciate it more over the years. The playable cast has such good chemistry. I finally beat it on Switch. I wish they'd port Symphonia to Switch, only make it based on the Gamecube release instead of the PS2/PS3 release. The Gamecube version was 60 FPS where the PS2 and PS3 versions were only 30 FPS.
Yeah, Vesperia is truly great. I've started Zestiria now, which is very different, which I'm appreciating. I just love the dialogue and banter between the characters in these games. The writers obviously care dearly for the characters, and write in a lot of subtlety and detail. I wish all JRPG's gave as much consideration to the dialogue.
The voice cast was great, too. Troy Baker was perfect as Yuri.
Nice! I've had a hard time finishing things lately. Not enough time! The only Tales game I ever played was Symphonia on the GameCube. Didn't finish it though. The battle system never really clicked with me and boss battles, in particular, were a slog of potion-binging. I wish I had finished it though. I was 70something hours in and right near the end. Oh well.
I have yet to play a Ratchet & Clank game despite owning several 
you know, I put off Ratchet and Clank for a long time too, but I'm really glad I finally played one. It was great.
I really liked R&C because it was just fun. I'm interested now to give the original a spin if its supposed to be a better game.
