Blog a Day #9
Hello everyone, how are you?
It's been a while since I did a Nintendo Direct recap so I figured why not?
This one was really unexpected. There had been a rumor that Nintendo was hard at work on Mario Kart 9, but it looks like Nintendo isn't ready to let go of Mario Kart 8 just yet. As the name suggests, the Booster Course Pack will give you a 48 additional tracks at $24.99, or for free if you have the NSO Expansion Pack thing. So the question is, is Nintendo really working on MK9 or was this what the rumor meant? I don't know but I regularly play MK8 so I like it. Just wish they'd add more characters as well. They better add Waluigi Pinball though.
The biggest surprise for me was the announcement of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Monolith Soft has been working on a new project for quite some time and it looks like this was it. I want to say more on the game but there's some spoilers for this as it has to do with both Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2. If you are into rpgs, play those if you want to get this one. But it looks incredible and I am really excited for September.
I think my favorite part of the direct was just seeing all the new footage of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It just looks so much fun and they showed a lot of new features. Like Kirby can now upgrade his copy abilities even further and my favorite, you can drive a car. Sort of. And yes, that is an official render.
More announcements
Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes was shown which is a Warriors spin-off based on Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It looks fun but unless Dorothea and Shamir are in this game and playable, then its a pass for me. At least Edelgard looks cool.
Nintendo Switch Sports was shown, which is basically Wii Sports, but for the Switch. I will say that it looks really fun. I may have to pass on this till much later on.
Mario Strikers: Battle League is the latest game in the ario Strikers series. It's by Next Level Games and it looks like it will be just as fun as the previous entry. I also love that Rosalina is playable in the game.
Earthbound and Earthbound Beginnings are finally available on Nintendo Switch Online. I mean it's no Mother 3 but still a very cool announcement.
Metroid Dread also received a free update which adds Dread Mode. Get hit once and it's game over. That's not all, theyare adding a boss rush mode in the future as well. Pretty cool.
Portal and Portal 2 are coming to the Switch. I have never played these game so I'm really excited to give them a go. Not sure if I can do a day 1 purchase but I'll get them eventually.
Disney Speedstorm was also shown. It's a racing game with Disney and Pixar characters. I saw Jack Sparrow in the game, so I want Darth Vader and Spider-man to be playable characters. But it looks really fun, it reminds me of Mickey Speedway USA by Rare.
KLONOA: Phantasy Reverie Series is coming to the Switch. It will contain both Door to Phantomile and Lunatea's Veil. I never played either so I'm definitely going to check them out. I know someone here is going to be happy.
There were more things announced but I mainly focused on these. What was your favorite announcement? Thanks for reading and..
