Not dead yet

I kind of stopped writing pretty much everywhere and not just electronically for a while. I'm going to blame it on stress and anxiety. Anyway, I'm back, and hopefully for more than just this one blog entry.

Still loving my Switch. I think I've booted up the PS4 fewer than half a dozen times in the last year and half. That may change today, as I promised myself a trip to Gamebox Video Games as a reward for finally sitting my butt down to do my taxes. Going to get Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga. Why on the PS4 instead of the Switch, you ask? One simple word: Trophies. And that would be my only real complaint about the Switch -  no achievements or trophies.

What I've been playing:

  • Lots of Animal Crossing New Horizons. I find it relaxing.
  • A bunch of point and clicks, some better than others, some bad beyond belief
  • New Pokemon Snap
  • Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Ori and the Blind Forest
  • Saga Frontier
  • KOTOR
  • Chrono Cross

And a bunch of others I can't think of off the top of my head and I'm too lazy to go turn the Switch on and find out.

I'll do another update later when I'm not experiencing a migraine.

Welcome back. I've been gone a while and this is my first day back too.

Thanks. Life got complicated and stressful there for a while. I realized a couple of months ago that I really missed writing. About games, about nature, and all the little stupid stuff that happens in my life.

Not stupid. I love the nature/gaming combo. To me nature is like real world Pokemon. Ha ha.

Good to see you back here.

I am going to wait and maybe ask for the new LEGO Star Wars game for my birthday.  I usually get to review all the LEGO games, but not this one for some reason.

I stopped playing Animal Crossing New Horizons.  I usually play those games everyday for a full year.  And then I stop.  I started it up again in the fall when they added the Happy Home Paradise stuff and played for a couple more months, but stopped for good after that.  I still play the mobile game, though.

I really like the point and click game from TellTale.  Sam & Max, Tales of Monkey Island, Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures, etc.

New Pokemon Snap was my Game of the Year last year.  I think it's cool that Namco made it.

I'm playing Pokemon Legends Arceus right now, and it's like Pokemon mixed with Breath of the Wild.

Ori and the Blind Forest got too hard later on, so I probably won't play the sequel.

I played SaGa Frontier on the PSOne and it was a hot mess.

I reviewed Chrono Cross for The Dallas Morning News back in the day.  It was a good game on its own, but not a worthy sequel to Chrono Trigger.  It was a cleverly disguised deck building card game.  I'm kind of interested in the remaster because I hear they included Radial Dreamers, the Super Famicom Satelliview text adventure.  I've always wanted to try it.  I've heard Chrono Cross is based more on Radical Dreamers than Chrono Trigger.  If you do want to try an RPG that plays more like Chrono Trigger, try I Am Setsuna.

I have left my island to its own devices for two weeks. I have barely scratched the surface of Happy Home Paradise and I really want the last five missing pieces of art for my museum. I have all the bugs, fish, and fossils, so it seems a shame to to complete my museum collection. Also, I've been redesigning some stuff on my island that I've meant to do for a long time. When I get it looking like I've always wanted it to, then I might stop.

And yes, the TellTale games are good. I bought a bunch on your recommendation years ago and have been slowly working my way through them.

I have both SaGa Frontier and Chrono Cross for the PS1, I just never finished them. And I actually played Chrono Cross before I played Chrono Trigger.

I like Ori so far. My nephew loved both of them and got me the set for Christmas. He's got a pretty good handle on what I like for games, so I'm going to play through them, even if I have to rage quit a few times.

You've kind of seen me elsewhere on the Intertubes - the good and bad of it.

Love Breath of the Wild. I keep coming back to it.  Also been playing Shin Megami Tensei V on and off.

I really enjoyed the remaster of SaGa Frontier. I had the original game on PS1, and despite the fact that it got heavily panned by critics, I really liked it. The new version really made it a better game and fixed a lot of complaints about the original.

I'm having fun with the remaster, too. I'm just so easily distracted these days. As you know, the kitten keeps me pretty sleep deprived. Between that and being back at the park, I'm pretty much exhausted by the end of the day.

"Not dead yet" is the one re-occurring life achievement that really matters Smile My PS4 has basically turned into a Destiny 2 machine. Pretty much all my other gaming happens on my Switch Lite. Props for diving into Saga Frontier. That game is too daunting for me.

It's my second dive into SaGa Frontier. I have for it the PS1 , too. I just never finished it back in the day. I think buying a PS2 distracted me at the time. Who knows, it feels like a million years ago.

I'm getting Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga on Xbox for the same reason, achievements. Switch has some rewards program I noticed, but I don't know much about it yet because I can't get myself away from rewards points hunting on Xbox.

But, I finally, finally, finally started playing more of my new Switch the other day and played some Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (my only Switch game). I'm liking it so far.

Welcome back!!!
