Broken Sword: Shadow Of The Templars

Just wanted to do a short blog about a Wii game I found. I'm always on the lookout for more adult oriented titles for the Wii,and this one would go into that category. Not that it's scary or graphic....not by a long shot. It's a point and click game for starters. The main character is George Stobbart,an American tourist in Paris. One day he winesses a terrorist attack at a cafe in the form of a bomb going off. The suspect is believed to be a clown, and is seen fleeing the area with a stolen briefcase. At the scene he meets Nicole Collard,a jounalist who is there taking photos. She decides to join him in a search for answers about the bombing incident. The story is complex and centers around the Knights Templar. That is what got me interested in the game. I have always wanted to know more about the Templars. Sure,I fought them in Assassin's Creed and learned a little bit. Some things in that game were historically accurate. But in games you have to look at history with a grain of salt. Makes me want to go to the library and get some books on the Knights Templar. To find out if they were good or bad, seems like some of their motives were less than pure. I also want to find out how they are linked to Freemasonry.

The gameplay is similar to a lot of iOS games I've been playing lately. Like the Runaway games and Hollywood Monsters. Lots of travel, exploration, puzzles, and using/combining of items to interact with your environment. And lots of colorful dialog with exotic people...and things!

Paris is like home base for George. He returns there a lot to look for more info and to regroup. And to confront evil mimes! That one just looks like a creep. Nicole should run away fast. Mimes make my skin crawl.....he's probably the mastermind behind the attack. Anyhow,I just thought it was kind of an interesting game if you like some mystery and intrigue in your story.

What I'm listening to today.......

Is this series on more than one console? I recall seeing this game but I don't recall which.

I think they released it for DS and PS2 as well. A good version is up on iOS now, too.

Both great bands you posted today. Interesting fact: In one of my Psychology classes in college, a kid in the class introduced himself as a Freemason. If it wasn't a Freemason, it was some other such society.

My Dad was a 32nd degree Mason, which is pretty high up. He never talked about it with any of us,it's a very secretive society. I think they are having trouble recruiting young people into it now. It's all about money, power, and influence it seems to me.

As far as point and click games go, I loved the Phoenix Wright games, which were part point and click, part puzzle, part awesome! The stories were deep and intriguing, and those are really the only point and click mystery type games I ever got into. But good mystery stories, like this one, always intrigue me.

Those Phoenix Wright games are some of the best DS titles ever in my book. They are a lot of fun and very interesting.

My brother-in-law bought this for me a few years ago and I never got around to playing it. I should though. It looks fun.

I think this was originally a PC game from back in the day. Not sure why it got a second chance at life but I'm glad it did. I've heard it's very good and would like to get a copy of it sometime.

A lot of PC games that I missed out on are now on Steam I'm finding out. I like that because I always had computers that could not keep up until last year. Now I can play anything I want to.
