Hello everyone, I'm sorry I've been away for so long. It's been a crazy two years, and part of that is I had to take some time to myself to sort out my brain.
My last post here was the end of September in 2001. It had been a rough year, and I was feeling quite lost, and then in November of that year, my German Shepherd died quite unexpectedly, and it was sort of a sad Christmas. Then, on January 2nd, I went to the emergency room at the recommendation of a doctor. I had appendicitis. They told me it would be a quick surgery, and I'd be out in a day, but in the meantime my appendix burst, and they had to slice me to pieces to clean me all up. I ended up being in the hospital for six nights, unable to move, hardly able to breathe, in great pain.
My poor mom visited me and was a real trooper. At the same time, her brother was dying of leukemia, and she was a wreck.
But, I got out of the hospital, and it took about three months for me to recover from my surgery. The whole experience was very difficult, the most difficult thing I've been through, and I've been through some crazy shit.
Anyway, for some reason I don't understand, I started painting once I recovered, first just with oil pastels on small pieces of paper, and now, a year later, I'm painting canvases out in the backyard, and I'm getting a big easel for my birthday next week. I love it. I've tried a lot of mediums over the course of my life. But something about painting makes me the happiest I've ever been.
There were some other things that happened... my other dog Zach died, but he was 15, so it wasn't a surprise, and in the late summer, we got a new German Shepherd, Molly.
The good news of all this is I've been playing a lot of video games. I beat Tales of Arise and I'm 80 hours into Person 5 Royale. I also bought a Steam Deck and I absolutely love it. I use it as a handheld, but also docked with a PS5 controller. And I've been playing lots of other stuff too.
Anyway, I hope you are well. I missed Pixlbit. But I had a real crucible to go through.
