Random thoughts after a long absence

Wow, I haven't stopped in here in forever! How is everybody?

I kind of stopped gaming for a while, with the exception of Animal Crossing New Horizons. A lot of it was lack of time, a lot of stress, my shithead cat chewing cables, and mental exhaustion of dealing with too many park visitors/pet store customers and not enough staff to handle things in either location. So I played ACNH, because it's soothing to me. The other issue is that I really should have bought it digital instead of physical, because I'm lazy and it was too much effort to constantly swap out games. I fixed that. I bought ACNH digitally and gave my physical copy to the young son of a friend who got a Switch for Christmas. And lo and behold! I'm knee deep into the first Octopath Traveler game.

My other issue has been that my anxiety levels are fairly high these days. I had it under control until the pandemic started, and I need to work on getting it back under control. My house is a mess, and I never seem to manage the little tasks because everything looks like it's a huge, insurmountable mess, so I just turn a blind eye. People always say "just break it down into small steps". Yeah, well, that doesn't work if you can't find a place to start. I think I might have found a solution, though. I found a website called Level up Life where you can get achievements for doing real life stuff. They have some standard ones, but you can do your own custom ones, too. I just set it up last night, so we'll see, but I have hope. One of the preset achievements is to write an entry in a personal journal or diary. I'm going to consider blogging  to fit that criteria. I have two blogs, this one and another one on blogger, and they are both equally neglected. I've been wanting to fix that, so hey, achievements!

And now back to gaming. I've played a lot of point-and-click adventure games that I've found on sale in the Nitendo e-store. Some of them are fun, some of them not so much. I'll do a blog entry at a later date about them. I also played DQ Treasures over the winter. It was a lot of fun for what it was. I think I'm done with t now, though. Again, this will be another blog entry at a later date. I spent a fun chunk of time playing DC Lego Super Villains, it was on sale in the Switch e-store. Kind of wish I'd gotten it for the PS4, because, well, trophies. I might see if I can find a used or sale copy for the PS4 and replay it, because I love trophies and achievements for most games, especially the Lego games.

I'm going to wrap this up now, because I have household achievements to acquire. Until my next blog post (which hopefully won't be another eight or nine months from now!).

I hope to see you here more often, though I see you in other places. That said, self-care is key.

I need to write more. That's past of my self care that I haven't kept up with. So hey, achievement unlocked!

If you like point and click adventures games on the Switch, here's one I reviewed that you might like:

Thanks for the recommendation, Cary! I think I looked at that one and wondered about it. I'll add it to my wishlist.

Yey! Ranger1! Glad to hear from you again on Pixlbit! What's going on in the park? I miss the park stories, both creature features and people gripes. It's Parks and Rec in real life for me. Ha ha. If only there was a park management sim game. Zoo Tycoon comes close, but I should work on that idea.

I've been curious about the Animal Crossing games. I loved Farm Together but it lacked the depth of a game like Animal Crossing.

I've sort of stalled on my all-Lego games project. I'm knee deep in Lego The Hobbit but it just sits in my digital library while I play other things.

You aren't at the grocery store anymore, but at a pet shop now? I like pet shops. I'd like to hear any stories you have about that experience.

i haven't started at the park yet, but we got a big chunk of change to buy new equipment and build new facilities. So I'm pretty excited about that. It will be nice to not spend more time fixing fixing things than using them.

I have most of the Anmal Crossing games, starting with the original one on the Game Cube. I'm not mormally into sim-type games, but AC is oddly addicting. I've kept my ACNH village going since I got my Switch at the end of July 2020. I kep tweaking my decorations and hoping to find the last painting I need to fill the art gallery in the museum, which will complete my museum exhibits

I love the Lego games. They scratch many itches, and are the only way I get most of my Platinum Trophies.

As for the winter employment, dude, you haven't kept up with my Facebook posts! I've been at the pet store for two years now! We are technically a pet supply store, we don't have any live animals. We allow pets to come in and visit us, though, and Beau has been going to work with me most days, as long as the owner isn't in the store, because his dog gets territorial and doesn't play well with others. I spend a lot of time stocking food and carrying heavy bags of dog food out for little old ladies, and the rest of the time is usually behind the counter cashing people out.

I love Farm Together so much, but it's a bit limited to farming and building a town. I just rented Animal Crossing New Horizons from my library.

I really love Lego games too. Hunting everything down is so addictive.

Well, I've seen your posts, just maybe I looked at the pictures more. Sometimes I go through things fast because there's so much now on my phone. I'll try and pay more attention. Ha ha.

You're going to get addicted to ACNH. Trust me! I didn't realize you have a Switch. You'll have to send me your friend code so we can visit each other's islands.

That would be so cool! Thanks for asking.

I'm still waiting for the hold to come through at my library. Seems others are addicted to it as well.
