Games Beaten

-DuckTales Remastered (WiiU)

I did not play the original NES DuckTales but I've heard such good things through the years and DuckTales Remastered certainly delivers on those. The gameplay is tight and the levels are designed well (a few mine cart sections notwithstanding). The game is gorgeous, it has the original show's voice cast, and the music is fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed playing it, as did my kids too.

***Not beaten but done with***

-Neo Contra (PS2)

I'm the guy that likes Super C more than Contra, so the top down perspective of Neo Contra does not bother me at all. I rather enjoyed it! Plus it has some nice callbacks to earlier games, like a remix of the jungle music from Super C playing in the aircraft carrier level (why?). The problem is that your performance in each level is graded and you cannot access the later levels if your rank is not high enough. I am not going to spend the hours and hours it would take to sufficiently perfect these levels. I play these games for the moment-to-moment thrills, not the pursuit of perfection.

Games Bought

Finally pulled the trigger on buying Disco Elysium: The Final Cut (Switch), the much-celebrated RPG. I don't know if I'll ultimately like the game, since I understand it to be kind of bleak, but no RPG has been so lauded since The Witcher 3. And now I can play it whenever I want (i.e., eventually). I also grabbed the PS5 PS+ games Sackboy: A Big Adventure (a LittleBigPlanet spin-off that looks fun) and Tails of Iron (a 2-D souls-like action game starring mice; it's got a neat art style).

Games Being Played

-Metroid Prime Remastered (Switch)

I was so close to having this done. Just need the last couple Chozo artifacts and then it's off to fight Meta Ridley and Metroid Prime.

-Picross S Genesis & Master System Edition (Switch)

Also nearly done with this! I'm on the last normal picross puzzle, which will unlock the last couple clip picross pieces, and then I'll just have to finish up the color picross puzzles. (I'm not a fan of mega picross, so I'm not doing those ones, which are just a repeat of the normal puzzles anyway.)

-Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate (Switch)

Made it to Hunter Rank 12. Fighting some very angry monsters!

-Destiny 2 (PS5)

Shootin' aliens and robots and stuff!

If it weren't for Animal Crossing: New Leaf being released that same year, DuckTales Remastered would've gotten my Game of the Year award that year.  I know it'll probably never happen, but I'd love to see a Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers Remastered.

I would think that if they would have remastered Chip N Dale, it would have been to coincide with that recent movie (which I thought was surprisingly fun). I would settle for that Disney Afternoon Collection coming to Switch.

"moment-to-moment thrills, not the pursuit of perfection." well put. I have to stop beating myself up for not finishing games. Sometimes just the small amount I've played in a game is enough.

I sort of ignored Disco Elysium at first because I wasn't into that type of story, but the more I look at it, the more interesting it becomes to me. I may have to try it.

I was always curious about Sackboy A Big Adventure. I wasn't into the 2D platformer version, but in 3D I might be into it. It's still not cheap though, otherwise I'd pick it up to try. Tails of Iron looks cool too. I have it on my wish list.

Being able to move on from a game without beating it...and then not beating myself up about it...is a recent personal development lol. I can still get better.

My wife was excited about Sackboy. Hopefully we'll get around to playing it together. We don't play stuff together as often as we used to (except Destiny). She's playing something by herself right now (Horizon: Forbidden West), which is unusual recently

Lucky you have a partner who plays games. My girlfriend and I watch movies, but that's aboout it.
