The backtracking still gets to me in Metroid, but I love the games overall now.
Spider-Man is fun but I miss the L AND R swing scheme from way back in the PS2/GCN/XBO days.

Games Beaten
-Metroid Prime Remastered (Switch)
Metroid Prime has been my favorite game since 2002 and this remaster is delightful. It looks so good! And the addition of actual dual stick controls is a nice option to have. I could nitpick some things—some of the textures still look old if you get close up and I wish the AI of the enemies posed a greater threat, and the backtracking wore on me more this time through—but I have to actively look for negative things to say for that. This game is still wonderful.
-Picross S Genesis & Master System Edition (Switch)
My main complaint with the Picross S series is that the pictures tend to be very mundane and I wish the developer, Jupiter, would have more fun with it. Though I'm not as familiar with Sega's old catalogue, it was neat to finish a puzzle and find out it was the car from Outrun, or something. The interface remains fantastic and I liked the addition of color puzzles. Mega Picross still isn't doing it for me but there was plenty to play in this package already.
Games Bought
May was a very light month for me. My physical copy of Shadowrun Trilogy (Switch) arrived in the mail. This collection of isometric cyberpunk RPGs include Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut, and Shadowrun: Hong Kong - Extended Edition. They are supposedly all good, with Dragonfall being the standout. I am looking forward to diving into them. I do love some good cyberpunk stuff. My only other acquisition (I didn't go for any of the PS+ games) was Depixtion (Switch), a picross-style game whose gimmick is that each puzzle made up of several color layers. Not only did it have good reviews...but it was on sale!
Games Being Played
-Spider-Man (PS4)
I have wanted to play this game since it came out and ran out of excuses when we got it for my son for his tenth birthday last August, and I STILL didn't play it. Well, situation rectified and man, I am having a good time! I'm about 75% of the way through the main story but I've been doing a lot of side stuff along the way. Turns out that the general concensus that the game is very good was spot on.
-Destiny 2 (PS5)
A new season just started. Maybe this time I'll keep up with the weekly challenges!
-Depixtion (Switch)
I'm already a quarter of the way through the total number of puzzles but things always start easy in these games, so I'm sure my progress will slow as I progress.
-Monster Hubter Generations Ultimate (Switch)
Some of these late game monsters are so angry and tough!
Gosh, I even played the Spider-Man games on the GameCube and I don't remember about the L and R swinging. I do like the breadth of the swinging traversal system in the 2018 game, like being able to swing into the side of a building and immediately going into a wall run and cornering buildings or swinging real fast over the top to keep your momentum up.
